YWCPA engineers a SeaPerch Victory
"Engineers 101" secures 1st place SeaPerch poster
SeaPerch Success
Many months of hard work and preparation paid off for "Engineers 101" team members Camryn Gambrell and Yenifer Martinez, who will travel to the national SeaPerch challenge at the University of Southern Mississippi this May.
The ladies won first place in a juried poster competition, where they introduced their graphic displays and delivered oral presentations about their design philosophy, construction challenges and answered questions posed by the judges.
The SeaPerch Program provides students with the opportunity to learn about robotics, engineering, science, and mathematics (STEM) while building an underwater ROV as part of a science and engineering technology curriculum. Throughout the project, students will learn engineering concepts, problem solving, teamwork, and technical applications.
This year’s SeaPerch competition consisted of an obstacle course, a weighted box retrieval challenge, and a poster presentation.
