Events During Jackson's Terms

Trail of Tears

The Cherokee were forced off of their land by Jackson and the army because of the Indian Removal Act and were now being relocated to Oklahoma. While being taken to their new home they had to get through the harsh winter in which many of the Cherokee died. So many died that they ended up burying the dead at each stop they made. Once the last of the Cherokee made it to Oklahoma, they had to start a completely new life with no help from the U.S like they were promised.

Spoils System

Once Jackson got in office he removed many people from office to make room for his own supporters. He promised his supporters jobs within the government if they continued to support and help him. Many people were angry at Jackson because he had gotten rid of people for no reason and had put people in the government who had no clue what they were doing. As a result, the government had less people who knew what to do.

Worcester v. Georgia

The Cherokee went to court to rule the Indian Removal Act unconstitutional so they could stay on their land. The court ended up ruling that the Cherokee nation was a "sovereign" nation and Georgia could not interfere with the Cherokee. Jackson didn't listen to the court and forced the Cherokee off of their land and to Oklahoma. On the way there many died and once they were finally able to get to the new land, they had to start a new life with no help like they were promised.

Andrew Jackson Political Cartoon

This Political Cartoon represents when Jackson was trying to take down the National Bank and the many headed monster represents the states. The person who made the cartoon supports Jackson because he made the bank and the states into a monster and showed Jackson winning.

Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson has easily been our best president yet. He has been the only one who does not distinguish the rich from the poor. He took down the bank purely because he did not support the rich and thought that the bank did not help the everyday man. He also gave new people jobs in the government, and took the Cherokee off the land so that people of the nation can have it.

Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson has been the worst person to ever lead the United States of America. Not only has he forced every single native tribe off of their land, but just look at the tariffs he has put on the South. He breaks the law by not listening to the Supreme Court and doesn't even get punished for it like he deserves to be. He took down the National Bank and made the economy fall to nothing.
