New Staff Shout Outs
Jennifer Barnes Grade 1
My name is Jennifer Barnes and I am so excited to be part of the Mildred Magowan team! This is my first year teaching First Grade at Magowan. Previously I’ve had experience teaching Kindergarten and First Grade. I believe that every child can learn when they are placed in a warm and welcoming environment. In my classroom mistakes are welcomed and seen as a way to learn! I teach my students that we are always learning and growing together. Let’s have a wonderful school year!
Tonya Bloom MDK-2
Greetings! My name is Tanya Bloom and I’m excited to be the new MD K-2 teacher. I have a Master’s Degree in Special and Elementary Education from Holy Family University, a Bachelor’s Degree in French from East Stroudsburg University, and I’m a Registered Behavioral Technician. I’ve worked over 7 years in various paraprofessional positions. I enjoy working with my colleagues and continuing learning from you all.
My husband, Michael, and I live in Hamilton with our two daughters, 2 year old, Autumn, and 4 month old, Adalyn. We also have a 3 year old chocolate Labrador named Maddie. So that should explain what I do in my “free time”. HA! I do consider myself a “crafty” person and enjoy eating from our garden.
I look forward to meeting and working with you all to educate and enrich our students’ lives.
Tysheema Burrell RBT
My name is Tysheema Burrell, and it is my great pleasure to work here at Magowan Elementary school. I have a passion for teaching individuals on many different levels. While working in this elementary school, I look forward to my second career teaching adults on a collegiate level. I have a certification to teach adult education online. I had the pleasure of learning how adults learn when being compared to how children learn. With my passion for teaching, I also have a strong psychology background. I have obtained my Associate degree at Rowan College at Burlington County in 2012 in Psychology, my Bachelor’s degree from Wilmington University in 2014 in Psychology, and my Master’s degree from Walden University in Psychology specializing in Crisis Management and Response in 2017! Furthermore, I am completing my doctorates degree in Crisis Management and Response specializing in Forensic Psychology. I love that I have a chance to use my psychology skills here at Magowan Elementary school working with our special needs students. I really enjoy working with children in general education and special education. Our children here at Magowan are our future. Therefore, I enjoy being a part of their academic growth as it is a critical part of their life. Before the children reach adulthood and enter the college life, they must learn the basics of elementary learning. My pedagogy style for teaching students focus on being supportive, caring, and compassionate during their academic journey through grade school. I look forward to learning new things and growing within the Edgewater Park School District.
Keri Toth-Nesbitt MD K-2 Intensive Support
My name is Keri Toth-Nesbitt and I am extremely excited to be apart of the Edgewater team. I previously worked in Delanco Township for the last three years. I have a beautiful family that includes my Husband of two years and my baby girl who is three months old. We are a big sports family and if we aren't playing softball, we are watching our Philly teams, or at the stadiums supporting them. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter of teaching!
