We will have 4 school marshals at the event and numerous staff members will be on hand to ensure attendees are checked in both properly. Please review these important reminders:

Visitors (non-LHS students) will not be permitted entry without the approval form on file. The forms were due on 9/14/22. We cannot accept visitor forms at the door. Visitors without the approval form on file will not be permitted entry to the dance. Visitors should bring a valid photo or school ID to present to staff at the check-in tables.

Student safety is the primary concern when it comes to students coming and going at the Homecoming dance. Please be reminded that once a student leaves the Homecoming dance and/or school grounds, the student/s will not be permitted re-entry.

Sophomores and Juniors interested in NHS!
Attention current Sophomores and Juniors interested in NHS.
Students with at least a 3.8 GPA will receive an invitation via their Lovejoy email account to apply for membership in the Spring of 2023. Part of the application process will be submitting service hours. A minimum of 3 hours with an organization is recommended. Service hours are defined as donating your time outside of the normal school day and must benefit a group or organization. Parents may not sign for hours their student performs.
The following are examples of "Acts of Kindness" and not considered service hours - babysitting for a neighbor, mowing your neighbor's lawn, walking the neighbor's dog, cleaning out the neighbor's garage or helping a neighbor with a garage sale, cleaning out your closet to donate items or tutoring another student unless it is part of an organized group project.
Students that have questions regarding what counts as service may email tania_vaughn@lovejoyisd.net.
Lovejoy ISD Campus Library Updates
In an effort to support transparency and parental involvement, Lovejoy ISD school libraries are initiating a communication practice. Parents will receive a weekly notification from the campus librarian that includes library materials their student currently checked out. Librarians are planning to begin notifications the week of September 12th. Parents should ensure email contact information is current in PowerSchool so to receive the weekly information.
Parents will also have the option to request limited access for their child to library materials. Campus librarians will post information on the campus website that provides guidance for parents to request specific book titles they do not want their child to check out.
Our campus librarians serve as an excellent resource for parents should you have questions. The District is committed to providing extension and enrichment opportunities for students with library materials through school and home partnerships.

Lovejoy Theatre Presents: All In The Timing
Lovejoy High School Theatre is thrilled to present their production of All in The Timing, by David Ives. The show will be performed on September 30 and October 1, 2022 at 7:00 pm.
Wit, intellect, satire and just plain fun! This production features nine diverse and interesting one-act comedies. They range from the sentimental to the absurd, but are all equally hysterical. Every scene focuses on the way that people utilize language, and deconstruct the perspectives people have on life and meaning.
All in the Timing uses inspired language and word play to examine various attempts at relationships and communication with comical results. It will push your smart buttons, tease your brain, and tickle your heart!
Tickets are $7 for students, seniors and staff, and $10 for adults. Tickets will be on sale beginning September 19 at the online box office at https://tinyurl.com/LHSBoxOffice22-23.
Join us for an evening of laughter and an experience that breaks all the rules of Theatre. Come join us for All In The Timing at the Lovejoy High School Auditorium at: 2350 Estates Parkway, Lucas, Texas.

Constitution Day & Celebrate Freedom Week
In honor of Constitution Day & Celebrate Freedom Week, Texas schools highlight the values and ideals on which the United States was founded as well as the sacrifices that were made for freedom in the founding of our country. Throughout this week, students are invited to learn about the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights.
For example, students will recite a portion of the Declaration of Independence, in honor of celebrating Constitution Day which commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787. We will share additional examples in the next newsletters.
Attendance Reminders and Updates
All families should have received their campus’ Beginning of Year Truancy Letter, via Bright Arrow. We felt that it was important to follow up with additional information.
In addition to the Compulsory Attendance Law that was addressed in the letter, there is also the 90% law; state law mandates that a student is in attendance at least 90 percent of the academic year.
In order to receive credit for a final grade in a class, a student is required to attend 90% of the days a class is offered, regardless of whether the student’s absences are excused or unexcused.
All absences count towards the 90% law and Truancy, except for the following absences with the proper documentation:
- Religious Holidays with written request prior to the absence
- Attending a required court appearance
- UIL eligible absences- Educational Competition administered by school staff
- Academic, Athletic, and music contests (uiltexas.org)
- Medical-Related absences, when the student attended a portion of the school day and presents documentation from the health care professional for the same day
- All day Medical-Related absences do NOT exempt a student from the 90% law or Truancy. Medical Documentation for a full day absence is only used in consideration by the Attendance Committee)
- Sounding “Taps” at a military honors funeral held in Texas
Attendance notes for an absence must be submitted to your student’s campus no later than 5 school days after the absence. Notes will NOT be accepted after the 5th day, and your student’s attendance will not be changed.
Absence notification timeline, all absences are counted, (excused and unexcused):
- A letter will be sent home if your student is absent 3 times in a 4 week period
- Another letter will be sent home once the student has accrued 6 absences
- Intervention will begin with the campus attendance committee
- A 10 day letter will be sent home once the student accrues 10 absences
- Your student can be referred to Truancy Court
Although we know that students will get sick or other challenges may arise during the school year, consistent and timely school attendance is of the utmost importance. We all share the goal of enabling the students to reach their full potential and achieve all of their educational goals. The way to allow a student to reach their full potential and educational goals starts with consistent and timely attendance.
Parking Reminders
Lovejoy Families,
If you have a student driver that will be driving to school, please make sure they have registered to park on campus. We have had a few students that have not registered or have parked in the wrong parking space. Parking in the wrong space can cause a trickle effect for students who have reserved spaces. We appreciate your assistance with this matter.
Just a few reminders:
- All students parking on campus should have a sticker
- Student sticker should be located at the bottom right window of passenger side
- Students need to make sure they are parking in the correct numbered space
- Temporary tags are available if your student needs to drive a different car than the one that is registered.
If a car is in your student's space when they arrive, they can park in the front of the campus and report it to the Admin Assistant, Mrs. Martinez.
If your student hasn’t registered to park yet and would still like to, please click on the link below.
Thank you.
