Striving for Excellence: ILEARN ELA
Strengthen Instruction and Prepare Students in Grades 3-5
The Southern Indiana Education Center intentionally plans high-quality and essential ELA professional learning throughout the school year. We have taken elements from these opportunities and included the latest information from the IDOE to provide a targeted day of support for Grade 3 through 5 ELA teachers. Our goal is to provide every teacher with practical insights to strengthen daily instruction and guidance to prepare all students as we learn together about the new Indiana assessment, ILEARN.
Learning Intentions:
- Examine the research behind how we get students to retain and understand essential understandings.
- Explore the skills needed for surface, deep, and transfer learning to move students to higher-order thinking skills.
- Personalized help for teachers working through common student struggles and mistakes.
- Understand a computer adaptive testing approach.
As a result of the on-going construction of the ILEARN test, we will also include a follow-up virtual session via GoToMeeting during the month of June. We will share these details in April.
Please plan on joining us on June 27, 2018 for this initial face-to-face session at the SIEC office. See below for more information!
