A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL RICHARDSON
Hello Parents,
What a great start to the school year! I am so thankful for you and your patience as I know there have been many changes. I want you to know my vision is for O’Dell to be a place where all students love to learn and are excited to walk through the doors every day. We will strive every day to make this happen! I want to thank those that took the time to complete our parent survey. I promise we are looking through the things we could do better and making changes where we see fit. Below are some of the answers from the question:
What is one thing that went really well for the start of the school year?
The friendliness of the staff, students and admin.
Teacher contact with parents, drop off is good
Everyone was very helpful and kind.
Carpool Lines (seeing everyone helping & motivated)

Communication from teacher
Everyone is so sweet and greets all kids.

* Allergies that may result in anaphylaxis (esp. food related)
* Asthma or respiratory problems
* Diabetes
* Epilepsy
This is pertinent information that the nurse needs to know in order to properly care for your child and prevent any major emergencies from occurring. Please help us keep your child safe.
The Counselor's Corner
This month we’re talking about the character trait of Citizenship. The definition we are using in class is:
Citizenship: being respectful and responsible to make your home, school, and community a better place
Family Conversation Starters:
What are the benefits of good citizenship?
How do you benefit from the good citizenship of others?
Family Challenge:
Talk with your family about Digital Citizenship. Discuss computer skills, online safety, and screen time. Together as a family, make a plan for appropriate amounts of screen time, procedures for downloading apps or games, and how to handle difficult online gaming/social media situations.

AMPED Running Club
O’Dell Elementary is ready to continue AMPED (Amplifying Education with Activity), a grant-funded running program for grades 1-5 at our campus. Our school earned this grant through Kids in the Game and Active Schools, and we are super excited to continue our AMPED program!
* There will be at-home training events, and we will possibly have training during P. E. classes for additional support in mileage and fellowship.
* We will meet once a month after school for in-person events. Students MUST have arrangements for transportation home as this is an after-school program, and there will not be any buses to take students home.
* If your child has a current doctor's note excluding him/her from physical activities on the day of a scheduled event, your child will be unable to participate in AMPED activities, per discretion of school and doctor’s note, until cleared.
* AMPED will have its first kick off event in October.
* Click on this link to enroll your child in AMPED https://forms.gle/wyiuvHyMx9VpKyZu9 . All forms must be completed by September 15th.
Thank you,
