First and foremost we hope you are taking care of YOU! As we are all adjusting to this new way of counseling, your SAC counselors hope to still support you in the best ways possible.
We have been monitoring the coronavirus situation carefully and are following all guidelines set by our District. We are concerned about the impact of COVID-19 on our families and students and as Student Assistant Counselors, we want to ensure access to updated available resources. Those should be available by
We are including information on our referral process and our referral links. Please let us know how we can help. As we all know, this is all new to us and we are all learning as we go. However, we are willing to do whatever we can to help and if we don’t know the answer we will do our best to find.

FAQs
Q. How do I know when I have an appropriate referral?
A. A teacher, staff member or yourself might see:
Frequent, substantial disruption to the learning environment
Physical aggression that endangers self or others
Multiple placements at DAEP or JJAEP
Chronic NSSI
Student exiting in/outpatient treatment facilities
High risk suicidal ideation OR attempted
High risk ideation or threats of violence against others
Q. What does the referral process look like?
First, the appropriate steps would be followed, such as:
Scheduled Tier 2 meeting w/ all necessary stakeholders
Invited parents to meetings
Completed Tier 2 FOG in AWARE (BEFORE meeting)
Adhered to LISD protocol
BIS referral made in advance IF moving to Tier 3
At any time you are not sure a student is a good candidate for a referral, please feel free to call for a consultation. We would love to walk you through our thoughts and if we don’t think they are a good referral, we will give you ideas, strategies or support to help guide you in the right direction to get the guidance needed from that point.
