Crater Lake has inspired people for thousands of years. It is the deepest lake in the United States, and the 7th in the world. It is known for its beautiful blue color. Crater Lake has sheer surrounding cliffs almost two thousand feet high, and two picturesque islands. It is a place of immeasurable beauty. It is filled with melted snow and rain that fell within the caldera.


What to do

The park is open all year round. In the summer hiking, boat tours, trolley tours, ranging guided programs, swimming, fishing, camping, and other activities are offered. In the winter ranger-led snowshoe hikes are offered on weekends. Cross- country skiing is available on a number of trails.
