Te Whare Akoranga o Maungawhau, January 24, 2022
From the Principal
Kia ora koutou,
A belated Happy New Year to all. I hope everyone has managed to find time to rest and recharge over the holiday period, enjoyed the fantastic weather and had an opportunity for a much-needed change of scenery!
As you will be aware, this school year begins at the Red 'Traffic Light' setting. This is essentially the same as the previous 'Level 2' settings for schools. Please note that school will be open at all settings (full time, 9-3) for all students (unless we are otherwise required or directed to close at any stage), so we return to a full timetable.
As a country, we are now entering a new phase of the pandemic. We know there will be further challenges and changes ahead, at least in the short to medium term. Nonetheless, I can assure you that - as ever - we will continue to take a cautious, pragmatic and proactive approach towards the health and wellbeing of our students, staff and community, and to providing timely and accurate information.
As we anticipate the likelihood of significant case numbers in the coming weeks and months, our focus will be on doing everything we can to;
1) Mitigate risk through public health measures, such as mask-wearing, ventilation of spaces and enhanced hygiene protocols, in addition to encouraging vaccination for children
2) Minimise potential exposure by limiting non-essential contacts on site
2) Compartmentalise risk by avoiding mixing between year levels/classes, (as was previously the case under Level 2 restrictions)
As previously advised, please note that Tuesday, 1 February is set aside for 'Welcome Day' parent conferences, which many of you will have already booked. These will still be held in person (but only one family at a time please, socially distanced).
If you have not yet done so, please book your session using the link below. This is an important opportunity to catch up after the significant disruption of last year, meet your child's teacher and set the stage for a positive return to full time learning at school for the children. This means that classes resume on Wednesday, 2 February.
If you have any other questions in the meantime, please let us know, and we look forward to welcoming back all of our families soon.
Ka kite anō au i a koutou

All staff are fully vaccinated, and vaccination is now available for children aged 5 and up. The school site is limited to essential visitors only, so we will return to gate drop-off for the time being.
As ever, it remains key to keep children at home if unwell (and seek medical advice).
