Twenty Students Earn the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy
Nixa High School had 20 students receive the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy this year. With this Seal on their transcript and their high scores on the proficiency exam in their chosen language of study, they will earn 12 college credits or more for FREE participating Missouri universities when they continue their language studies at the university level!
To achieve this award, students had to pass a proficiency test in their second language and score at least proficient on the English II End-of-Course (EOC) assessment. These students dedicated at least four years to learning their second language to become biliterate.
The following students earned the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy:
Kendall Ernst, Camila Figueroa, Isabella Hanners, Salvador Herrera, Hailey Jarvis, Spencer Ward, Kylene Minton, Paige Pearcy, Sailor Powley, Seb Sweaney, Lane Loney, Lauren Loney, Kenneth Coor, Abby Martin, Jaeden Smith, Treasure Bougher, Kaleb James, Alexa Gaunt, Harper Jane Simpson, and Brianna Gonzalez.

One Nixa One Read
What if an entire community read the same book during the same month? What if the book we all read together has a unifying message about kindness, neighborliness, and friendship? What if we celebrated these lessons with family-friendly events where readers can come together to discuss?
That’s the question posed by the City of Nixa, Nixa Public Schools, and the Christian County Library’s Nixa Branch. The answer we came up with is what we call the “One Nixa, One Read” program.
We’ll be encouraging the entire Nixa community, young and old, to read the same book, Wonder by R. J. Palacio, together during the same month.
