Springetti Update
Dear Friends, Families and Supporters of Galatas,
Thank you for being apart of the Galatas Community and supporting Springetti 2020!
It is with a heavy heart we are writing to inform you that the Springetii as we know it will not be taking place. Although we will not be able to gather in person this year, we are working hard to offer other ways that you can support our goal of raising funds for the Galatas PTO and join in the fun from home! Even in the time of Covid-19, our PTO is still operating and very much needed by our school.
Springetti is our largest fundraiser of the year, bringing in about 50% of our gross operating budget annually. Many of the virtual learning tools that your child is accessing from home are paid for by our PTO. Our hope is to continue to support our teachers during this challenging time.
Ways you can support the Galatas PTO:
- Donate your Ticket Purchase: While the Springetti event is canceled, you can choose to have your ticket purchase be a donation to Galatas PTO. We will be offering full refunds to those who request one. Please email Emily Frazier at galatastreasurer@gmail.com before April 30, 2020. Any remaining ticket sales after May 4, 2020 will be considered a donation.
- Springetti Online: Watch out for our Springetti Online offering coming out in May! We will be auctioning off all Class Baskets, class books, grade level art, VIP Parking, Disney tickets and more.
- Become a Galatas Superstar: Support our school and teachers with a cash donation to the Galatas PTO. Help us reach our goal of supporting our teachers and continuing to offer amazing virtual tools for our teachers and students. Visit www.galataspto.com.

New Student Registration Now Open
New students to the district will need to complete registration forms available on-line through the CISD website. To register students for Pre-K or Kindergarten, please watch the registration videos or Facebook Live on Monday evening.
STUDENT PLACEMENT FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
Student placement for the 2020-2021 school year is decided by a committee made up of your child’s current year's teachers, principal, assistant principal, counselor, and sometimes, the special education staff. We work very hard to match children's learning styles and personalities with next year's teachers. We take this task seriously and examine the strengths and needs of each child as we strive to place each student in the environment in which he/she will be most successful.
Our placement committee will begin meeting soon, and we will continue to work through placement procedures throughout the summer. Because of this, families will be notified of their child’s teachers the week before school begins in August. Once your child's placement is complete, it is not possible to make changes, as this compromises the dynamics of the entire class. We work very hard to create just the right environment for each student.
If you have concerns about your child's placement that you would like the committee to consider, please send those concerns via email to our counselor, Mrs. Tabor, at ktabor@conroeisd.net by Friday, May 1, 2020. This is a firm deadline as placement decisions will be starting at that time.
If you have expressed a concern in previous years, and you feel that it should still be considered, please communicate this information every year via e-mail to Mrs. Tabor. We do not review previous year's requests. Please do not request specific teachers or make friend requests for your child. Class composition and a learning/personality match are our top priority as we strive for the correct placement for each child. We appreciate your help and support with this very important endeavor and request that you notify friends and neighbors who may overlook this information.
Galatas Spring Book Fair May 4-17
Even though our school is not open, we want the Book Fair to be available for our students & parents to get great books! Online shopping is available May 4-17 and our school benefits from every online order. All book-only orders over $25 will ship free to the shipping address that you designate. So please support the Book Fair and our school. The link below will not have the "shop now" button available until May 4, but you can preview the books now.

Nurses will be answering calls Monday through Friday (8:00-3:00) to provide information from the CDC, DSHS, and other informational sources if you have any general questions or inquiries.

AN ACT OF KINDNESS
#BUILDTHANKS CAMPAGIN
For our next act of kindness, we are going to join Lowe’s Home Improvement in thanking our frontline workers. Lowe's is launching the #BuildThanks campaign, asking Americans to get creative with supplies they already have at home to make thank you signs and messages for medical professionals. After creating signs of gratitude, Lowe’s is asking DIY makers to show off their messages on social media, using the hashtag #BuildThanks.
WEEKLY ROUTINE
Monday: Teachers will send out information to their class regarding the week's lesson plans and remote learning activities.
Tuesday & Thursday: Conroe ISD will be distributing free meals to students from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at The Woodlands High School. Additional locations are published on the CISD website.
Daily: Join Mrs. Wilker and Mrs. Mathis for the morning announcements. The link will be sent out electronically each day for students to view at their convenience.
