Bricks, Bricks, Bricks!

Still interested in purchasing a brick to display on campus? The #PennPTA is continuing to fundraise for the new playground scheduled to be installed this fall break. Engraved bricks will be displayed on campus and provide an opportunity to remember a loved one, a special event, commemorate your years as a Panther, or act as a great gift to family and friends!

Our first order of bricks have arrived and we are working on getting them installed ASAP!

We are offering two types of bricks for sale. The first is a 4x8 engraved brick with up to 3 lines of text and up to 18 characters per line for $100. The second is an 8x8 engraved brick with up to 6 lines of text and up to 18 characters per line for $200. You can also purchase a printed Donor Certificate for $10 or duplicate of your donated brick with a felt backing to keep at home for $40 for the 4x8 brick and $80 for the 8x8 brick.

Through your participation in this fundraising campaign, you are helping to build a future filled with playful memories and are making a permanent mark on our school and our future generation. Returning to school after illness: What parents need to know

If your student has any symptom of illness that may be COVID-19 related, even if mild:

In order to return to school we will need:

  1. Documentation of a negative COVID-19 test result, OR

  2. Doctor clearance, if an alternative diagnosis has been made


If your child is unable to be tested or evaluated by a doctor:

  1. They may return to school after 10 days of quarantine, AND

  2. They must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication and their symptoms improved


If your child has a chronic condition, such as allergies, which may cause symptoms similar to COVID-19:

Please provide a doctor note for us to keep on file so that your child does not need to stay home or get tested if they experience their typical symptoms. The note should include:

  1. Their diagnosis/condition

  2. Their typical symptoms which should be considered non-contagious


**Rapid testing: Please note that we cannot accept rapid test results. A negative rapid test result must be confirmed by a standard PCR test in order to return to school.

Testing Update Grades 3-6

An Update from the District:


As you may know, each year in the Spring, districts, and schools are charged with administering the Smarter Balanced California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) to students in grades 3–8 and 11th. On March 16, 2021, the California State Board of Education (SBE) took action to move forward with the administration of the CAASPP for the 2020-21 year but with great sensitivity to the additional stress that annual assessments can place on teachers and students, understanding that some districts will not be able to administer the CAASPP because of the pandemic.

It is apparent that parents/guardians are more engaged than ever before in their student’s learning and progress. Therefore, it is important that you are also equipped with the most up-to-date information. To this end, Petaluma City Schools will administer the two district measures to our 3rd through 6th-grade students: STAR assessments in reading and math along with the Illuminate Outgoing Broad Coverage Assessments in English language arts and math. Even though the administration of the CAASPP assessment is not a viable option due to the shortened window of time available for testing students, it is the district’s priority to provide parents/guardians to the clearest extent possible with indicators of whether or not their child is on track for grade-level learning. Therefore, we will strive to send parents/guardians their student’s STAR and Illuminate score reports from the 2020-21 Spring administration by June 4, 2021.

We plan to administer the alternative assessments between May 10th and May 28th
