Third Grade Rocks
Folsom ES February 8th-12th
Math
After the unit test on Tuesday, we will begin our Geometry unit. This week the students will spend time classifying and sorting two dimensional figures based on attributes using formal geometric language. We will focus on the attributes to recognize rhombuses, parallelograms, trapezoids, rectangles, and squares as examples of quadrilaterals and draw examples of quadrilaterals that do not belong to any of these subcategories.
Please continue to practice your multiplication facts at home – there is a quiz on the 10s on Friday.
ELAR
Reading
Students will be focusing on how the audience of commercials, persuasive articles and essays changes the types of persuasive techniques that might be used. For instance, how might McDonald's change their advertisement to target someone who has made a new year's resolution to lose weight. They will also focus on how commercials have a different structure compared to persuasive news articles and essays.
