Holocaust
The fight of the Jews survival
Camp Life
The camp changed their lives as a person because now they won't take things for granted and they will not only think about themselves but others as well. Their bodies became weak and hurt. They learned to fight their loved ones to protect themselves and survive each day. As they became older they were grateful for the things they had and they valued the small things such as food, shelter and family.
Evil during the Holocaust
The Holocaust was considered evil because the Nazi's would put people on trains and throw small portions of food at them and watch them fight to the death as if it was a game. They would also tell them they would take a shower; have them strip naked and then pour gas on them saying it was water and then burn them alive. Women and babies were not given a chance to live and were automatically killed.
Hope
Even though the Holocaust was mostly evil the Jews did have some hope. Some of the Nazi's tried to help the Jews. They provided them information to help save them. There were people who they told to change their age so they would survive. At the hospitals if they were weak they would be killed; however, if they were being treated they would be given time to live and heal. The Jews had hope that when they were lined up to be shot that they were not the 7th in line.
Father-son relationships
Relationships were important but they began not valuing the relationships because they were so malnourished and emotionally weak. There were families with close bonds who later would fight and kill each other for small portions of food. They sometimes did not recognize each other or care because they were fighting for their own survival.
Beliefs and Values
The novel reveals that as humans we take life for granted. We are not always thankful for the things we have and tend to want more. The novel reminds us that we have been given opportunities that would should be thankful for and we should value life and the basics such as food and shelter more than extra items. Humans have become selfish and greedy. It is important to pay attention to each other and respect everyone's beliefs and values in order to prevent future harmful events which take away our rights as a human.
