Principal's Message
Dear Pine Run Families,
If you attended our Holiday Shop last Friday, you likely received kind greetings, saw excited children, and felt the warmth of a loving school community. As I took in the sights and sounds of the festivity, I felt aglow with gratitude, which intensified with each new encounter. These are clearly the most valuable gifts of the event.
Yet this year, I received the GREATEST GIFT.
As I mingled among our venders, I came upon a parent holding a sign carved with the mantra, "YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS." I stated I had hung this exact quote in my home where my own daughters couldn't help but view it each day. The mom relayed that she remembered hearing me use this same phrase while speaking to her daughter. The fact that this simple but important message was remembered filled me with great hope.
Then, as I was preparing to head home, a former Pine Run student and her mom waved me over. They were eager to connect, and immediately began reflecting on their years at Pine Run. This is what they shared:
We have never forgotten the important lessons from Pine Run. The ones about GRIT and hard work. About trying and not giving up. About making mistakes and using what you learn to reach new heights. To believe in yourself and to never give up on your dreams.
As you might imagine, these words took my breath away. At that moment I knew I had been given the GREATEST GIFT I could have wished for- the knowledge that Pine Run students were learning about the keys to success! Pine Run students are seeing that they can tackle hard problems, face difficult challenges, learn from their mistakes, and ultimately reach their goals. I believe this life lesson will be one of their greatest gifts as well!
