Digital Learning News & Updates
Test Security in Browsers
Macbooks: SchoolCity offers the Respondus Lockdown Browser as a method for focusing students' computing onto a SchoolCity assessment. The LEISD Technology & Network Services department is examining the most recent updated version of this lockdown browser and hopes to be able to make it available to students soon. More information will be provided when this option is available.
Chromebooks: See video from Nick Rodriguez below. (Thanks Nick!)
Scanning Schoolcity Bubble Sheets
Every campus has at least one Brother scanning machine which can be used to scan paper bubble sheets into SchoolCity. You must use the Windows computer connected to the Brother scanner because the SchoolCity scanning software is ONLY available for Windows. (You will not be able to connect your Macbook to the Brother scanner and scan the tests that way.)
Click here for step-by-step instructions on scanning paper bubble sheets into SchoolCity.
When Thinking About WHY We Are Using Technology....
- How does it improve or enhance the learning?
- How does it shift the focus to the students, putting them at the center of the learning?
- Does it require curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity?
- Does it allow students to accomplish something they could not without technology?
Region 10 Book Study (Plus GT Update Opportunity!)
Region 10 is hosting an online book study over The New Pillars of Modern Teaching. The study opened on Monday, January 29. However, you may still be able to join in. The book study is being hosted via Google Classroom this semester. To register, use this link.
BONUS! Because we are part of the R10 GT Cohort, this book study will count towards the 6 update hours, too!

Padlet
Padlet can be used by students and by teachers. With Padlet you create what is essentially an online post-it board that you then share with anyone else you want. Share out the unique Padlet link. The Padlet board can be opened on either smartphone, tablet, or computer. Collaborators can start sharing and seeing the ideas of others immediately. Install the Padlet app on your phone/tablet or just go to the Padlet website, create an account, make your first board, and then share your Padlet using either the QR code or link generated by hitting the share button.
To post things on Padlet, double click anywhere on the boar, drag files in, paste from clipboard, or just click the ‘+’ button in the lower right corner. Collaborators can post text, upload files, add images, and even embed content.
