Wakeland Band and Color Guard
Important Things Coming Up
Inspirational Wall
Dear Wakeland HS Band Family and Friends,
One of the time-honored traditions in the Wakeland HS Band program is the Inspiration Wall leading into our season-ending competitions.
Starting Tomorrow, Friday Oct. 27, and ending next Thursday, we will begin posting inspirational notes for our student-performers in the Band Hall. These notes can contain a few short sentences, a favorite quote, or a longer letter. You can attach pictures, graphics, and the like. Please remember that, if you email it to me, I can only print in black-and-white, so full-color photos are best brought to school personally and pinned to the wall.
Please forward this email to your friends/family who may want to wish your child good luck on their performance at the BOA San Antonio Super Regional and Adventure to State.
This is a really special experience for our kids, and they often spend time standing at the wall, reading notes of encouragement from people near and far.
If you’d like to make a small poster/collage for your child, you can do that as well and bring it up to the Band Hall to pin up.
I would encourage you to spend a few minutes writing a note. Send it to me in the body of an email, or in a document I can print (.doc, .pub, .pdf, .jpg, etc.). Thank you for taking time to play a part in the ensemble’s journey to San Antonio. We really appreciate it.
Regards,
Mr. Smith
Senior Night - November 2
FOR SENIOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS:
Dear Wakeland HS Band Family and Friends,
With Senior Night on Thursday, November 2 at the Star, I wanted to send you all an update regarding instructions and yard line assignments.
Parent/ Escort Attire
Attire for the event consists of “dressy clothes” including dress shirts and slacks (jacket/tie optional) for men and nice attire for women.
Please, no jeans or ball caps on the field for this dignified event.
You may bring flowers, balloons, or a small gift for your child.
2nd Quarter
We will meet on the concourse above the band when 4:00 are left on the game clock in the 2nd quarter. We will have someone in place to assist in lining-up the parents, then moving you to position.
Halftime
Your child will meet you on the sideline following the Band’s performance for the Drill Team.
Please stand on the sideline (in the white box right near where the green starts) until your child’s name is called.
When it is, precede forward 4 steps (towards the bottom of the printed numbers on the field).
Mr. Smith will greet you with an award and shake your child’s hand.
A photographer will follow to take an on-field picture. This picture will be used for the annual band yearbook.
