Amanda Knox | Official Trailer [HD] | Netflix
Thesis
The documentary "Amanda Knox" substantiates Amanda's guilt of murder of Meredith Kercher because of proof of DNA, her mental breakdown at the interrogation and denial of DNA on the murder weapon, and the staged break - in.
Purpose
The purpose of this documentary is to inform people about the Murder of Meredith Kercher and Amanda Knox's journey through the trials. Knox was found innocent, after years of sitting in Prison in Italy. Many believe that Amanda Knox and her boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito have murdered the young girl. The documentary takes evidence and makes the audience form their own opinion about who really killed Kercher.
Achieving the Purpose
Example 1
In the documentary, the murder weapon is shown; a kitchen knife. Knox's DNA was found on that kitchen knife. When taken in for interrogation, she denied her hands being on that knife, ever. It was a kitchen knife that she had used on a weekly basis, but still responded with, "It's impossible that my DNA could ever be on that knife." After the denial, the interrogators knew she was lying because she had to have used it before the murder, but couldn't even admit to that.
Example 2
During the interrogation, the police laid out every knife in her drawer and asked her to see if one was missing. Amanda got so nervous, she starting screaming and smacking her head. Police described these actions as if Amanda had heard Meredith's screams from the night she was murdered. She refused to look at the knives and did not want to talk. The breakdown lasted until the knives went away, and then she was back to normal. This proves her guilt because she was fine until she saw similar knives. Psychologists believe that the knives gave her flashbacks, and if she hadn't murdered Meredith, she witnessed the murder.
Example 3
At the scene of the murder, police investigated the broken windows and door hinges. On top of the body (with a blanket covering), there was broken pieces of window glass. Once the police and detectives saw this, they knew the break - in was staged. Amanda and her boyfriend had different alibis about what happened at the break in, and when they came home to see the break in. This proves guilt because Amanda could not speak right and her stories continuously change.
Conclusion
After viewing "Amanda Knox", I still maintain that Amanda Knox was proved guilty. Her erratic behavior shows the truth, and she was always calm when under pressure before this situation. The documentary shows Amanda acting in such ways that makes the audience think that the court cases were unjustified. Though Amanda was found innocent for Meredith Kercher, many still believe she was guilty because of the facts from this detailed documentary.
