From SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION
Dear Families,
We have made it to the end of November and Thanksgiving Break next week. The first twelve weeks have been filled with many challenges and struggles; however, I cannot emphasize how much we appreciate being in school. Our students and staff members have established a fantastic routine and we are making it happen. There is no way we would be as successful as we have been without the strong support from our families. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. There have been many sacrifices made and we are extremely grateful.
Virtual parent/teacher conferences are next week. Teachers are looking forward to connecting with parents/guardians next week. We have over 80% of our students with scheduled conferences. This speaks volumes of the support we have at Clemens Crossing Elementary School. Nothing will replace face-to-face communication; nonetheless, this was the safest alternative to share progress of your child.
As a reminder, school will dismiss three hours early on Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23. Dismissal will start at 12:40 p.m. both days. There will be no school on Wednesday, November 24 thru Friday, November 26, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Classes will resume on Monday, November 29.
On behalf of the entire Clemens Crossing Elementary School faculty and staff, I wish you the happiest Thanksgiving.
Mr. Cosentino, Principal

Thank You for Thankful Thursdays
The PTA would like to thank all the families that participated by making donations for “Thankful Thursday” snacks for the staff! Through your donations of food and money, we were able to provide snacks for the entire staff every week, with a special surprise of cupcakes and brownies from Touché Touchet on Wednesday this week. Although the official “Thankful Thursdays” is now over, the PTA would like to encourage families to consider donating individually wrapped snack items (salty or sweet) at any time throughout the next couple of months. The front office has a large basket for staff to get snacks out of, and any donations to help keep our staff full of energy is appreciated! Snacks can be dropped off in the main office by students or families. The Staff Appreciation Committee is also asking families to consider sending encouraging emails or cards to staff members to help us let them know how much they are appreciated.
ATTENTION ALL 4th and 5th GRADE SPELLERS!
The CCES Spelling Bee is back for all fourth and fifth grade students who want to participate. The Spelling Bee will be online this year, so if you are interested, please let Mrs. Register know. You can do this by sending a canvas message to her or by letting your homeroom teacher know. The deadline for signing up is December 10th. Happy Spelling!

PTA Reflections
The National PTA Reflections Arts Recognition Program is a program designed to inspire and celebrate your kid’s creativity. To participate, students create a piece of art in any of 6 different categories that reflect this year’s theme, “I Will Change the World By...”. Every student who enters receives a certificate celebrating their work! Each artwork is evaluated on the interpretation of the theme, creativity, and artistic merit. Reflections is not just for “artsy” kids- it’s for EVERY kid!
And this is a great year for kids to think about how they will change the world! Click here for a video about Reflections at CCES this year.
HOW TO ENTER:
- Reflect on the theme “I Will Change the World By...” and create an original work in one (or more!) of the following categories (click on the hyperlinks for more information about each):
- Fill out an Entry Form, and be sure to include your Artist’s Statement, which is how your artwork connects to the theme (this is 50% of your score from the judges).
- Turn in your artwork and entry form to the office at Clemens Crossing by November 29, 2021! OR, if your submission is electronic, please email it to me: reflections@clemenscrossingpta.org.
Artwork will be judged in 3 categories:
- Primary (Grades K-2)
- Intermediate (Grades 3-5), and
- Special Artist (for students with challenges as covered in the ADA).
Entries will be reviewed by experienced arts and education judges. All participants will be celebrated with certificates of participation, the top three entries will receive ribbons and the first place entry will receive a medal. The top three entries in each category will move on to the Howard County Reflections Contest; the top three Howard County entries will move on to the Maryland State Reflections Contest, and State winners in each category will compete in the National PTA Reflections Contest.
EVERY artwork will be celebrated!
