Charlestown School Updates
For members of our learning community - April 14th, 2018
Happy April Vacation Week! Enjoy some quality time with your children!
FLASH
RICAS Testing
Each morning, we will provide breakfast to all students.
We will also offer them a mint or sugarless gum. Both have been shown to help with testing apprehension.
We have adjusted the master schedule so they will not miss any specials, such as PE.
Please encourage your child to get a good night's rest and help them to arrive on time.
Students who are absent or tardy will complete their tests during make-up sessions.
Please send in a photograph of your child Persevering...such as meeting an athletic, reading or other personal goal. Maybe it was the first time they learned to ride a bike, ski, jump off of the diving board or bake a cake! The photos will be kept next to students while they are testing. This is something we tried last year and students enjoyed looking at their photos when they needed a little self-reassurance!
RICAS Testing Days For Students in grades 3 and 4:
Grade 3: 4/24, 4/25, 5/1 and 5/2
Grade 4: 4/26, 4/27, 5/3 and 5/4
The PTO Color Run is three weeks away-Sun., April 29th from 1:00-4:00 pm
Some things to keep in mind...
- The course will be staffed with volunteers to help supervise participants.
- If adults are going to run with children, they must register as a participant
- Students can run the short course multiple times if they want
- Food Trucks will be present
- If students earn any incentive prizes, they will pick them up at the event.
Scary Games at School
Based on my research, the game is a horror game played on computers and mobile devices. The goal of the game is for the player to survive five nights at Freddy's Pizza shop and avoid getting caught and killed by the animatronic characters. Children disappear during the game and are murdered.

As a reminder, cell phones, tablets and laptops are not encouraged on the bus as they can become lost, broken or stollen. If your child brings one, they are for emergency use only, per the district Bus Behavior Code.
