CIA's Mission Statement is to provide learning experiences that assist students in developing the skills needed to be successful throughout their schooling and beyond.
PRINCIPAL SIMMONS SAYS...
Dear Parents,
As we near the end of the semester, I would like to remind you of some upcoming assessments your students will be participating in.
The NSGRA (Next Steps in Guided Reading Assessment) will take place in your child's reading block. This is a 1:1 reading assessment with their teacher. Your student will read a passage and answer some comprehension questions. Their level of accuracy will help determine their reading level A-Z. The testing window opened December 3. I'm excited to see how much students have grown since they first took this assessment in August.
The NWEA assessment tests your student's growth in reading and math. In Warren Township, students take this test 3 times a year. You probably remember seeing their beginning of the year scores at our Fall Conferences. Our testing window opens December 10. All students who meet or exceed projected growth will earn an Out of Dress Code Day! A student meeting/exceeding their Reading and Math goal will earn TWO days Out of Dress Code!
Wednesday, December 12th will be a delayed start for all Warren Township Schools. Students will arrive one hour late than their normal time and ALL buses will run one hour later than normal time. This does not impact dismissal time.
Also, I would like to introduce our new full-time TOSA, Mr. Keith Utter. Mr. Utter is a 14-year veteran of Warren Township schools and graduate of WCHS. He has spent 11 years in the elementary schools and 3 years at RPIA. He is passionate for working with at risk students and has jumped right in helping our little Cougars. Welcome Mr. Utter!

December 2018
Dear Warren Family,
During the 2017-18 Legislative Session, State Lawmakers passed Senate Bill 355, which required all public schools to provide age appropriate research, evidence-based instruction, and child abuse education and policies on child abuse and child sexual abuse to students in kindergarten through grade 12.
Beginning on December 17, 2018 your child’s school will be using the Think First & Stay Safe child personal safety program. Think First & Stay Safe teaches students skills to help them stay safe. Presentations will be given by the Indiana University School of Social Work, Marion County Department of Child Services, and Warren staff and administration. Our learners will be taught the importance of treating one another with kindness and respect. They will also learn about personal boundaries and their right to have their boundaries respected by others. The program’s interactive lessons help children differentiate between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. The program gives students regular reminders that trusted adults are available to help with their safety, and are available to talk to any time.
If you have any questions about the Think First & Stay Safe curriculum, please do not hesitate to contact your building principal.
Working together, we can all help to ensure the health and personal safety of our children.
Sincerely,
James Taylor, MSW
Director of Student Services
Diciembre 2018
infantil Think First & Stay Safe child. Think First & Stay Safe enseña a los estudiantes
Sinceramente,
James Taylor, MSW
Director de Student Services
