Principal's Weekly Update

RAISE Goal: to play fair and have fun

Te reo phrase of the week: tangohia tō potae (take off your hat)

Kia ora,

We had a wonderful day on Tuesday tidying up the school during our working bee. Thanks again to all of the wonderful parents who turned up. Your help and support is very much appreciated and ensures our school is looking amazing for Pet Day. The students are currently working hard to complete fantastic Pet Day creations in class. You would have seen a note during the week encouraging the students to work on the home projects such as pet profiles, lego creations, miniature farms, and cake decoration for homework this week. We can't wait to see what they create.

Hangi

By now you should’ve received a notice about our hangi that will follow our school prize giving event. We need a heap of support on the day of Wednesday 18th November so if you are able to help out in any way please let us know.

Teacher Only Day

We started our teacher only day today by checking the traps at McDonald’s Glen. It’s a neat piece of bush, which clearly shows the fantastic community partnerships that our school is building. The fact that Todd Energy, The TRC, and ourselves can come together to work on a project that we hope will benefit our whole community is pretty special. If you missed it, please see the article that was published in the Taranaki Star by clicking here.

Have a great long weekend and if possible tick off a few Pet Day projects.

Room 1

Thursday Afternoon Buddy Time

We love having some students from Room 6 visit us each Thursday afternoon for Big Buddy Time. This week we made basketball hoops and practised our aiming and throwing skills.

If you would like to make a paper hoop over the weekend you can find the template here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0689/8109/files/basketball_hoop.jpg?v=1587695232

Room 2

This week we have been working hard to complete our Pet Day art, ready to show everyone next Saturday. We are creating over-sized animal art and have an up-cycling project with plastic bottles. Hopefully we can get it all finished!

Room 3

This week Room 3 have worked hard on their basic facts through the prototec website. We have also started a fun new programme called Maths Whizz. There have been some wonderful written recounts about the suspense of receiving gifts and spending time with family and friends.

We have enjoyed getting outside when the sun is out and creating art for Pet Day. On Thursday we were very lucky to have Esther from Enviro Schools come and make hair conditioner bars with us.

Room 4

We have been very busy in room 4 this week. We have had plenty going on, including our two Pet Day crafts and practicing our class dance. We have been working hard on planning and writing recounts.

Room 5

In Room 5 we are lucky enough to have a pretty cool buddy class. We absolutely love every time we get to do buddy class with them! Our favourite thing to do with our buddy class is to play Kahoot, a quiz game! Here is a photo of us with our buddy class playing a maths Kahoot!
