Sports Nutrition Classes Visit UNL
On December 8th, a group of Sports Nutrition students from North toured UNL and learned about the role of nutrition for athletes on a college level. They toured sports facilities at UNL and heard from nutritionists and dietetic interns about how they promote good nutrition for the athletes at UNL, including making personalized smoothies for each athlete based on their needs. The students ate lunch at the UNL Training Table, which is where the athletes eat at UNL. They also were able to hear from a panel of 5 UNL athletes about their nutrition practices and did a Q&A session learning firsthand the importance of nutrition for athletes on a college level.
Month of Giving
Ms. Alati's All-Star Viking Time has been busy during December in their "Month of Giving" initiative. Their "Stock the School Food Pantry" canned food drive held December 4-8 brought in over 208 non-perishable food items. During the "Brrrring in the Cold Weather Gear" drive held December 11-15, they filled three 13-gallon-size bags of warm clothing items to give to the Sienna Francis House.
And, they have a great start on the "Stocking up with Toiletries" drive being held December 18-22.
