Dear Skyview Families,
The school year is in full swing and we enjoy watching students experience school activities on a daily basis. As students continue to acclimate back into the learning environment it is important to continue to keep them engaged and focus on their success. I encourage you to check PowerSchool daily for updates to grades and communicate directly with teachers to make sure that students are on track with their daily work. Building consistency is key for students in the middle school setting and we want to work together to support student success. Checking with your child daily to review their school day is important for both the academic and the social emotional support they need to be successful. Middle school is a critical time to build resiliency and structure that create healthy habits. As the school year leaps forward we know that family schedules become busier by the day, please reach out if you have any needs to better support your student.
With the return of the more traditional school setting comes the return of extracurricular activities and clubs. Please follow our school newsletter and website for updated information. An important part of every student's educational experience is participating in extracurricular activities. I am excited to announce that Skyview will be adding boys and girls soccer this year. Please look for more information to come as we prepare to roll out the new program.
We are also looking for parent volunteers to participate in our School Accountability Committee (SAC). We will be holding an initial planning meeting on September 9th from 5:30 - 6:30 in the Skyview library. Please check your email for more information. We look forward to seeing you there to support our Eagle community.

Annual Health History -
If you haven't done so already, please complete the annual health history in the parent portal in PowerSchool. If you need a paper copy, please let us know and we are happy to send one home with your student. This is the only way for us to know if your student has any health concerns. Our goal is to keep your students safe at school and to meet their personal needs. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this information.
Illness and Covid-19 -
If your child is sick, please keep them home. I have attached the district illness guidelines for you to review. We are not performing health screenings as we did last school year. If we receive notification of a positive individual in the building and your child was directly exposed, you will receive notification. We are not providing quarantine or isolation guidance but recommend that you contact your physician or El Paso County Health for this guidance. You can reach El Paso County Public Health at 719-578-3220 for any further covid questions.
Technology Policy -
If your child is not feeling well please direct them to come to the health room. Students are not allowed to use their cell phones during school hours. Oftentimes, we can assist your student so that they may remain in school. We will never deny your child the ability to call home. We do track illness patterns and spread of illnesses so we need to know what is occurring in our building to ensure proper response and parent notification.

Theatre
Hello, I am Ms. Wittner the new Theatre Teacher here at Skyview Middle School! I am beyond delighted to be a part of the SMS community and to be able to create a safe and welcoming space for all our students to express themselves with the art of Theatre.
I am so excited to be announcing the fall play come the first week of September! If you are interested in auditioning for a role in the show or becoming a part of the tech crew then keep an eye out for that information which will be posted on the call board right outside the Drama Classroom.
