Reid Elementary News
May 2023
Hi Reid Rocket Families,
May 8th - 12th is Staff Appreciation Week! Thank you to everyone who is sending in donations to support our staff!
Our Dimes for Diapers fundraiser ended. Mrs. Skinner's jug had the most money raised so she will be duct taped to the wall on May 5th. Please check Reid's PTO and School Facebook pages later this week to see the fun pictures.
As spring approaches please remember that our playground can become a muddy mess. Sending an extra pair of shoes or boots may be helpful in keeping your kiddo clean and dry.
We have many students bringing Pokemon cards, cell phones, or wearing smartwatches to school. These items cause a distraction to our learning environment. Please keep these items at home. If students have these items/devices out at school, they will be confiscated by staff and a parent will need to come to the office to pick them up. Thank you for your assistance with this request.
Please remember to update your child's registration on parent vue for the 23-24 school year. All current students must be updated for the next school year.
We have many events coming up at Reid. Please be sure to check your teachers' news for important info too.
Educationally yours,
Jamie Wagner
Principal

Stay Healthy!
Everyday Preventive Actions:
• If you or your child gets sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you (or your child) stay home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. The fever should be gone without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.
• While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs that can cause illnesses.

Hand UP Food Pantry
A Hand Up food pantry is located at Grand Blanc West Middle School and provides free food items to families that have a connection to one or more students at Grand Blanc Community Schools, K-12.
A Hand Up does NOT have a visit limit, income or ID requirement. You do NOT have to be a Grand Blanc resident, just a family of a student at one of these schools.
The pantry is supplied from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
Our process has changed in that we are no longer going to have people come in to the pantry. Items will be pre-packed for each family ahead of time and ready on the Thursday after your form is submitted (by 2pm Tuesday). Bags will be placed in bins at the WMS entryway. You may come once per week for as long as you need.
The food pantry is experiencing the same supply-chain issues as everyone else, and there will likely be some substitutions or things not included due to supply. Every effort will be made to provide a suitable substitute. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
