Practical classes from gurus
International gurus come to the 2nd Bootcamp 2013
Ready? Set? Go! The 2nd Wayra Spain bootcamp will take place in the beautiful city of Barcelona from 23 to 27 September at various locations, including Telefonica’s corporate campus (on private wooded grounds on the outskirts of Barcelona); the Mobile World Centre (in the very heart of Barcelona); and the renowned Circulo de Ecuestre, which is one of Catalonia’s leading members-only business clubs.
Our 21 start-ups will be joined by international gurus such as the VP of Softlayer (recently acquired by Accenture for $2 billion); a partner of the Israeli fund Vertex Venture Capital, one of the first investors of Waze, an Israeli start-up that Google recently bought for $1 billion; and international superstar, Michael Jackson!
In our first bootcamp in early June, our start-ups learned about product development and customer acquisition. After 3 intensive months in which they have been grilled by their mentors and have participated in various international start-up competitions, our start-ups are ready for a new challenge. At our 2nd bootcamp, our start-ups will learn to articulate the unit economics of their businesses, analyse the limits of their business models, brush up on their lean sales techniques, learn management techniques from top start-up CEOs and CTOs, and begin conversations with leading international VCs from Kibo Ventures, Active Venture Partners, Betaworks and Nauta Capital.
And this is only a brief overview of our bootcamp! There will be plenty of networking, including with top executives from Barcelona’s Circulo de Ecuestre, late-night karaoke team-building sessions, a special edition Wayra Barcelona Startups Network co-sponsored by the folks at Creative HotHouse, and a term-sheet shoot-out in which our entrepreneurs will match wits negotiating term sheets with partners from leading law firms such as RCD, KPMG, PwC, Roca Junyent and Bird & Bird.
