PRINCIPAL'S NEWS
Dear Parents and Carers
LIFELINK DAY
We will raise money to support this wonderful cause on Friday 2 July when children will have the opportunity to come to school with crazy hair and free dress for a gold coin donation. LifeLink provides financial support for several agencies that deliver support to thousands of people in need in Western Australia each year. Last year Lifelink helped over 37 000 Western Australian families and individuals in need. We know that with your generosity we will be able to support the good work of LifeLink in our community. Crazy Hair Day – Friday 2 July Week 11.
REPORTING and THREE WAY INTERVIEWS
Each year at the end of Term 2, all students in Pre-Primary to Year 6 receive an academic report. In the past, MMPS has sent home a printed, hard copy of this report.
This year, we will be distributing student reports electronically via SEQTA Engage. No hard copies will be sent home. SEQTA Engage is an online portal that will allow caregivers access to their child's school reports.
You would have received an email via SEQTA Engage that will allow you to set up your account in preparation for the distribution of reports next week. To assist you with setting up your account, and to provide more information about SEQTA Engage, please read the document via the link below to answer all your questions.
If you have any queries about this transition to online reporting, feel free to contact the school office via 9290 5200 or admin@mmps.wa.edu.au.

Reports will be sent home on Monday next week. We ask that you take time to sit and read your child’s report with them. It is important to not only look at grades but at effort too. Determination and perseverance are important influences on academic outcomes and when students believe that their effort leads to progress, they are more likely to work hard and not become discouraged by setbacks. Celebrate your child’s progress and discuss goals they would like to achieve in their learning for Semester Two.
This is a lovely segue to Three Way interviews which we will be holding in Week 2, Term 3. The children will carry their achievements of Semester 1 and their forward-thinking goals for Semester 2 to share with you at this time. Your child’s classroom teacher will be sharing information with you regarding Three Way Interviews.
SURVEY
Thank you if you have already completed our school's "Climate Survey".
If you haven't yet had a chance to do so, click below and use the access code PACSMM in the 'start questionnaire' box to participate.
The more parents who complete the survey, the better the information for us to work with, so please take the time. It is your opportunity to provide feedback and have a say in school related matters. Staff and students are also participating in the survey.
CLASS BLOGS
Over the past few weeks I have been seeking feedback from parents and staff to support our decision making in reviewing the class blog. The purpose of the blog is to share important dates and information relevant to your child's class. Another aspect of the blog is to celebrate learning experiences the children engaged in. As we transition to our new look blog and streamlined communication in Term 4, the blogs are being standardised across the classes and will contain the below information:
- Important dates and relevant class information
- A series of 8 photos linked with a learning experience
- An explanation of the learning experience evident in the photographs.
STUDENT VOICE
I love receiving mail on daily basis from the children at MMPS. I know that for some children verbalising their worries or concerns is overwhelming. The letterbox in my office enables another avenue for children to express themselves. They know that I read their words and respond to their worry, concern or idea. Matilda and Ruby in Year 6 created a video demonstrating how their student voice and collaboration helped develop an after school Sustainability Club.
LIGHTNING CARNIVAL
Well done to all of our Year 5 and Year 6 students who participated in the carnival today. We may not have won our finals, but it was wonderful seeing our students enjoy the day and giving it their all. It was also wonderful seeing so many of our parents there on the sidelines cheering our students on and helping out where needed.
NAIDOC PARALITURGY - Wed 30 June @ 9am
We have a special NAIDOC Paraliturgy next Wednesday 30 June at 9am in the school hall. All families are invited and welcome to join us at school for this special service.

P&F UPDATE
Our next P&F Meeting will be held this coming Tuesday 29th June from 1.30pm in Room 1. We'd love to see lots of parents join us as we finalise our P&F initiatives for next Term and have the school leadership team present their priorities and provide information on key initiatives for the last half of 2021. Children are always welcome to join our meetings so don't let that stop you joining us!
A special thanks to our PP, Year 2 and Year 3 parents who have coordinated the Big Splash Welcome Party, Easter Raffle, Mass Morning Tea and Mothers Day Raffle in the first half of this year. Our Year 1, 4, 5 and 6 parents all have activities planned for the next two terms so it's going to be busy! We love that our parents are sharing the workload and contributing to initiatives managed by the P&F - what a wonderful school community we have!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to and supported our P&F activities in Term 2 - it is greatly appreciated.
Yours in education,
MMPS P&F Committee
GREEN TEAM UPDATE
Hi MMPS Community,
We have been going along so well so far with bringing into school our bread bags and bread tags for recycling. So far, we have already sent off a 3 kg box of bread tags.
We know how much bread our families go through with making all those delicious sandwiches for your children for school lunches.
Please save the bag and tag and place it in the bin provided in our Community Recycling Hub at school so you can not only help us be in the running for a prize but also stop them from going to nasty landfill.
The Wonder Schools Competition closes now on the new date on 2nd July 2021.
Thank you and together we make a difference.
