This week we began our visits with Palmer, a comfort dog. (Some photos included) He and his handler visit Lincoln and students are able to brush, pet, and even possibly read to Palmer. This is one of the opportunities we began last spring to build connections across Lincoln and the broader community. Also today, I began our principal birthday lunches, I invited students in grades 2-5 who had birthdays in the months of August and September to have a picnic lunch with me. We walked to a local park and had lunch and played, in addition, students will receive a gift bag compliments of our PTO after this luncheon. Next Friday I will invite students in grades kindergarten and first, we will have our celebration on the south lawn and in the LRC.
Next week all of our students will take part in our survey of social-emotional skills and knowledge. Our 3-5 grade students will take the Panorama survey, there is a district-provided letter linked below. Our younger students will take a school-created survey focused on belonging and emotional regulation. We are focusing on these two specific skills and are intentionally planning to build all student's skill levels in these areas. As you know a few weeks ago we had our zones week, and through this along with our morning meetings, monthly town halls, and our SEL curriculum second steps we are building each child's social-emotional and behavioral skills. Finally, Dr. Gordon visited Lincoln and visited classrooms, he has prioritized visiting our schools and seeing the wonderful learning our staff and students are engaging in. It was great to show off our Lincoln Leopards during his visit.
Another way to build a strong connection is to meet up with families or other classmates outside of school. Below is the link the PTO is using to collect family information which will be shared in the Lincoln directory, please complete this if you want your information included.
Here is a link to the Google Form that will be used to gather directory data:
If you would like your student(s) included in the 2022-23 Lincoln Directory, please fill out this Google form: https://us01.z.antigena.com/l/TUSt5cERjOO0H2T7CCHH3iQaMhFjzd4c_bz2gyeNqnThtSmUSwXX~DyHHfF2JCdgv43MDkLThBhAm4Bdxg~_d7fKjMEpIYjBpXQlgBXun1jtavC7kwKxkHICO5sLk86lRZGOiqOQK_Gt2wbrM9PAyilLL5aSJyc5wABISPcYnK . Changes to the District Website
Please be aware that the District 303 website will undergo construction during the week of October 3 to reflect recent changes to names and titles within the Department of Learning & Teaching. These changes have been made to better align with the work and responsibilities of the department. The most notable changes are:
- The Department of Instructional Interventions will now be the Department of Student Services
- Staff, Family and Student Services will now be Student Programs
Page names and links will update to reflect these new titles, and other changes may occur. Thank you for your understanding."
