Message from the Principal

Welcome! Our Prairie team is incredibly excited to welcome you all to the 2019-2020 school year. The staff has been engaged in professional development, setting up classrooms and planning for the upcoming week. I'm feeling incredibly fortunate to be joining such an outstanding team of educators. We are excited to hear about summer adventures, reconnect with our learners, and talk about our hopes and dreams for this year. I'm looking forward to seeing our amazing staff in action with our learners for the first time! Please take a look at the information in the following sections to ensure that you're ready for the first day.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Carly Solberg

Many of you have already noticed that our district office determined that the trees along Center Road needed to be removed due to a disease. Trees are being removed throughout the district due to this same problem.

Arrival & Dismissal Parking:

Please DO NOT drive into the parking lot. This area is for buses and daycare vans only. Your cooperation helps us to keep all students safe and ensure that students who ride buses and daycare vans are able to dismiss on time. Thank you for your help!

Staff Spotlight: We have many new staff members this year and many staff members returning. I will be highlighting a different staff member each week so that you're able to learn a little bit more about each of our team members.

Erin Connell (picture below) is a 5th-grade teacher who is new to Prairie this year. Erin says, "I am honored to be a part of the Prairie family this year. This will be my 6th year teaching. I live with my boyfriend, Kevin and his 9-year-old daughter, Avery. We have a Chocolate Lab named Jersey. I love to travel and have been to over 8 countries and plan to visit many more! My passions in education are relationships with students, equity, literacy, and math!"

PTA News

How are we about to start a new school year? First off, welcome to the new Prairie families and hello to returning families! I am Stephanie Tuyls, the Prairie PTA President. I am a mom of 4 kids, 3 who attend Prairie currently. I am super excited to be working with Mrs. Solberg this year as well as the Board helping Prairie to continue to be PAWSOME!

Just wanted to share a few things with you. . . unfortunately, Culvers has changed to every other month which will be starting 9/9, NOT the first day of school. The dates shown on Puma Folders are correct. We will have other fun restaurant nights and other events to fill the time instead, so we will keep you posted on those. We hope that you can join us Friday, September 6th (6:30-8 p.m.) for an all school ice cream social to see our PTA, our staff and local groups. Enjoy some ice cream, good laugh and great company, and hopefully some great weather as we are hoping to have it outside, weather permitting. Our first PTA meeting will be held on September 10th at 6:30 p.m.. We currently have a President Elect position open. If you are interested in joining the PTA or interested in the vacant President Elect position, please email us at

I look forward to working with you all this school year.
