A Message from the Principal
Hi Indian Trail Families!
I can't believe May is finally here!!! This school year has gone by so fast and we have had an amazing time this school year! May is going to be a super busy month here at Indian Trail. To stay up to speed with events happening in our school, please check out our calendar of events listed below. Also, this month we will be administering a pre-algebra and algebra readiness assessment for advanced placement next year. I've attached a letter below from our middle school supervisor with more information. We only have 3 weeks of school left. Let’s make them the best yet!

Math Placement Assessment
Dear Indian Trail, Johnson City Virtual Academy, and Liberty Bell Families,
In May, all students in grades 6 and 7 will take the Johnson City Schools’ Pre-Algebra (6th grade) or Algebra (7th grade) Readiness Assessment at their designated school. The assessment will be one data point along with other criteria that will be used to help place your child in their mathematics course for the 2022-2023 school year. The Pre-Algebra assessment for current sixth graders will focus on sixth grade Algebra standards and connected concepts from the seventh-grade standards that will determine readiness for course work, including but not limited to Pre-Algebra. The Algebra assessment for current seventh graders will focus on 7th grade standards, along with other topics that are indicators for success in Algebra. Both Pre-Algebra and Algebra courses are designed for students who have demonstrated an extensive understanding in mathematics.
This assessment will be administered on Tuesday, May 10 during your student’s math block. Students attending JCVA will be contacted by their school and provided with more information to arrange in-person testing. There is no special preparation needed to complete this assessment other than your student’s best effort. Both the Pre-Algebra and Algebra assessments contain 25 questions. Students will be given 60 minutes to complete the assessment. Calculators will not be used during this assessment.
Any additional questions may be addressed to your student’s teacher, designated school administration, or the district math coach, Glenda Conner (connerg@jcschools.org).
Sincerely,
Todd Barnett
