Sunday Fun Open Swims at Oak Harbor High School
Benton-Carroll-Salem Schools is pleased to announce new times for Sunday Fun Open Swims at the Oak Harbor High School Pool for all B-C-S students, families, and community members starting on January 12, 2020. Racquet ball courts will also be open to adults during these times. The pool and racquet ball courts will be open on the following Sundays from 2:00 until 4:00 PM: January 12, 19, 26; February 2, 9, 16, 23; March 1, March 8, March 15.
Pool admission cost to be paid at the door for B-C-S students is only $1, and B-C-S adults will be $2. Racque tball courts will be open to B-C-S adults only for an additional charge of $2 (limit 4 per court). A lifeguard and site director will be on site to ensure safety. Please note that these Sunday Fun times will be cancelled if Ottawa County is on a Level Two or Level Three Snow Emergency as announced by the Ottawa County Sheriff.

Restoration of School Busing Service
Dear B-C-S Parents/Guardians:
Due to passage of the levy, busing is being brought back similar to what it was last school year. We will start transporting students in high school (including Penta) and students who live within 2 miles of our schools on January 6, 2020.

Community News and Events!
On Saturday December 7, 2019 at 4:15pm Santa’s friends from the Portage District Fire Department will be guiding him through the streets of the village as he announces his arrival and opens the 2019 Holiday Season.
At 5:00pm Santa will arrive at the Log Cabin to light the Village Christmas Tree and to visit with the children.
Each child will have the opportunity to share their Christmas wish list with Santa at the Log Cabin. After their visit with Santa the children will then receive Santa Bucks and be able to shop for two (2) free gift items for their loved ones from several businesses in downtown. There will be several businesses open that night and parents will receive an entry card, if you and your children visit each of the participating stores and have your card stamped, you can then enter your card into a drawing for $100 in gift certificates! After the children have purchased their gifts they may proceed to Portage Fire Station for Cookies and Cocoa and parents can turn in their entries for the drawing. These activities will be available from 5pm-7pm.
Santa will also be at the Log Cabin from 6pm-8pm on Dec 13th & 20th.

OAK HARBOR AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ‘PARADE OF TREES’
A time honored Holiday tradition, Christmas Trees on Parade will light up the town again this year. Friends, family, businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor a tree as a memorial, an honorary gift or a seasonal greeting. A sign will be placed at each tree displaying the special message and the sponsor. All proceeds help to fund the Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebration.
They will be displayed on the light posts in the Oak Harbor village from December 1st to January 1st.
Cost to sponsor a tree is $35. Forms are currently available online at www.oakharborohio.net, or at the Chamber office, 161 W. Water St, Oak Harbor. Deadline is November 25, 2019.

OAK HARBOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OFFERING GIFT WRAPPING SERVICES
The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce will be offering gift wrapping services for the Holiday Season. All proceeds will benefit the Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebration in downtown Oak Harbor, and prices will range from $1 - $5 depending on the size of the gift. Customers can drop their gifts off Monday – Friday between 8am-4pm. They will begin accepting gifts to wrap on Monday November 25, 2019 and will wrap through December 19, 2019. Food Drive - A GREAT Success!
Our food drive was a great success! We surpassed our goal and collected 33 boxes of food for the Holiday Bureau. Lincoln (3rd-grade student) and his family collected over 400 items to donate! Special thanks to these OHHS softball players that helped load the boxes.
Mrs. W’s class were scientists! They completed science projects about magnets, apple seeds, the tasting project, and ramps. The students started with a question, performed an experiment, and found a conclusion.
Recess = Snow Fun!
Students were excited for outdoor recess and playing in the snow this week! Remember to dress for the weather and be sure all clothing is labeled with your child’s name.

OUR SCHOOL WIDE CANNED FOOD DRIVE HAS STARTED THIS WEEK FOR THOSE IN NEED: FOR EACH CAN OF FOOD BROUGHT IN THE STUDENTS WILL BE GIVEN A TICKET THAT THEY WILL WRITE THEIR NAME ON. IT WILL GO INTO A DRAWING BIN AND THERE WILL BE NAMES DRAWN ON THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK. STUDENTS WHO ARE DRAWN WILL RECEIVE A GIFT CARD.
THERE WILL BE BOXES SET UP IN THE BACK OF THE CAFETERIA AND STUDENTS CAN PLACE THE CANNED GOODS WHERE THEIR GRADE LEVEL IS LOCATED.

Gobble Gobble, It's Almost Thanksgiving!
We have been busy planning our Thanksgiving Feast and preparing for the upcoming holiday by singing songs about Thanksgiving. We are using tree parts to make our pine cone turkeys. We are also busy getting our animals groomed in our dramatic play center.
ROCKET FOOTBALL - REGIONAL FINALS!
With the big win, Friday night vs. Eastwood 34-14, the Rocket Football team moves on the Regional Finals. Oak Harbor will play Orrville next Saturday night at 7:00 in Elyria. More information to follow in the next couple of days as it becomes available. GO ROCKETS!

The B-C-S Alum Highlight will be featured in the Sampler and in other media throughout our area. We know that Rocket Pride is strong, and so are the accomplishments and contributions of B-C-S alumni.
