Dear RQMS Families:

We are very excited for this school year and to welcome all of our Royals back! If you and your child are new to Quist, we welcome you! This is the first of our weekly communications for this school year. You can expect to receive weekly communication on Friday evenings, which will typically include key dates and information about all the things happening in our ROYALS community. I want to warn you that the first few communications will feel very long, as we work towards ensuring that our community has the necessary information. Please read them as well as check our website and Facebook page to stay informed. As the year progresses, they won’t always be as long! This is the best format to provide families will all of the necessary information and reference points. I highly encourage you to take the time to review them for this purpose.

What to Expect for the school year ahead

My administrative team and I are in training today to learn about any safety precautions for this school year due to the pandemic. We will report those to you in next week’s newsletter.

We have made a few modifications from the District Calendar for the first three days of school to meet the needs of our students.

While many of our students were in person last year, we had 33% of our students who were learning from home. Additionally, Because our school is growing, we have students in both 7th and 8th grades who haven’t been in our building. After last year, there may also be some anxiety about what to expect this year for school. Considering all of these points, QUIST will be doing all student orientation.

6th Grade
On Wednesday, 8/11, 6th graders will have their orientation to Quist and middle school on the same day for the entire day. If you have registered your child for transportation, they will receive it on that day. We will feed all sixth-graders lunch on their orientation day.

7th Grade
On Wednesday, 8/11, the 7th grade will have a half-day orientation from 8:32-11:00. If you have registered your child for transportation, they will receive it on that day.

8th Grade
On Tuesday, 8/10, we will welcome our 8th graders for a half-day “re-orientation” from 8:32 - 11:00 am into this school year. If you have registered your child for transportation, they will receive it on that day.

Thursday, August 12th, first full day of school

QUIST PICTURE DAY - 8/25 (during school)

Transportation

Due to a shortage of drivers, our transportation is unable to meet every request for transportation. If you missed the June 30th deadline to sign up your child to ride the bus, please call 303-655-2991 to sign up for your child to be placed on a waitlist. If you know someone who needs a job and would be good in this role, 27J Transportation Department is looking for drivers! Please forward them this LINK to apply!

Job Opportunities in 27J and at Quist

27J and Quist have several part-time opportunities to help in our Nutrition Services Team and one 8 hour position working with our students as a Paraprofessional. If you are interested, please click on the appropriate links to apply! If you have questions about what those positions entail, much of the information is in the posting or email me. I would like to talk with you about it.

In closing, please note that our Quist Office is now open. Office hours are from 8 am - 5 pm Tuesday through Friday. Feel free to call us at 303-655-6950 or stop in for assistance.
