St. Matthew School
September 2022 newsletter
Dear St. Matthew families and supporters,
The fall weather is upon us. We are enjoying our time together every day.
This month we prayed the St. Therese of Lisieux novena in hopes that the Little Flower will answer some of our prayers. She is known for promising to spend her time in heaven doing good on earth.
Next month is Respect Life month and also the month of the rosary. We plan on spending time in prayer for life, holding an all school Liferunner huddle, and doing rosary activities. We will highlight those in our October newsletter.
Until then, may Jesus's love fill all your hearts and keep you safe.

It was an extra special day for Jake Hamm, one of our 4th graders, who was baptized on this day.
We started with our 6th-8th graders going to Camp Kitaki for outdoor education. They did many activities including ziplining, making skits at the campfire, and canoeing.
Next our K-2nd graders went to Vala's pumpkin patch for some outdoor fall fun.
Finally the 3rd-5th graders went to Ft. Atkinson to learn more about early Nebraska history.
Updates from Sue Mailhot- Volleyball commissioner
The 6th Grade team only has 6 players, but they play with heart. At every practice, the girls try to learn new skills and improve on their current skills. Everyone of them has a very strong serve which has led to some of the recent team wins. The team is about in the middle of the division with the number of wins and losses. Team moms, Hannah Oas and Bridget Larson have done a great job of keeping this team going.
The 7th grade coached by Jen Martin-Birdsall and Jeremiah Birdsall are having a great season. In addition to playing lots of volleyball games, they make the effort to spend team bonding time with each other off the court. Thanks to their coaches, the players are learning higher level skills which will be useful as they go into the last part of the season. The team is currently in the middle of the standings, but we look forward to finishing strong.
The St Matthew volleyball teams have been having a great season. The season is about halfway over and we are having fun! The teams play about once a week and practice a couple of days more. The season wraps up about the middle of October.
