31 Halloween Parade & Parties 2 pm

The Loveland Community Club kicked off our Loveland Launch this afternoon at an all school assembly! The Loveland Launch is our annual fundraiser that is a direct giving campaign. This means that every dollar donated goes directly to the school for our students.

The Loveland Launch helps raise money for the following activities:

  • Field Trips (students experience a unique piece of Omaha or Nebraska)

  • One Book-One School (a unique way to incorporate reading at home as an integral part of learning)

  • ArtSmart (a way for every student to interact with the arts in the classroom)

  • Technology (additional equipment allowing teachers to utilize the iPads to fullest capabilities)

  • Enrichment and STEM activities (past purchases include 3-D printers, escape boxes, drones)

  • Teacher Grants (Over $20,000 each year goes directly to classroom needs via grants written by the teachers and staff at Loveland)

Please consider a donation to our Loveland Launch! Information and envelopes made their way home with students today. Alternatively, you can view the attached document that lists the various ways to donate.

Thank you for supporting our school,

The Loveland Community Club

Please use this link https://martinphotography.hhimagehost.com/V2/Home/Index to place your order. Order forms will be sent closer to picture day. MAP Testing For 3rd-6th Grade Students

Loveland 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade students will take the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test next week. The MAP test is an un-timed test, generally takes about 40-45 minutes to complete, and has two subtests (Math and Reading). Students will take one subtest per day.

Halloween Costume Update

We ask that costumes be on the fun and friendly side, free of scary or frightening masks, or clothing with no blood, gore, or weapons. Please reserve make-up for evening activities. Students should bring their costumes at the beginning of the school day on Monday, October 31st. Thanks for honoring this request.

It's never been easier to keep up to date on events in Westside and at Loveland. The Westside Community Schools App is available for both iPhone and Android in the App Store. Using this app allows you to follow important information for our school and district, access calendars, and links to important resources. Be sure to download it and check it out!

Inside Emergency Drill

At Loveland we routinely conduct a variety of safety drills, including fire, tornado and inside emergency drills. We will hold our first inside emergency drill on Wednesday, September 21st. When the drill is announced, classrooms are locked until an all clear message is given. Please know our schools are among the safest places for our young people to be. We continually review our school security procedures and make any changes necessary to keep students safe. If you have questions, please call 402-390-6455

Office personnel will notify parents/guardians when a student needs to be sent home from school due to illness. Conditions requiring a student be sent home include: temperature greater than 100.0°F, vomiting, diarrhea, unexplained rashes, or on determination by the school nurse that the child’s condition prevents meaningful participation in the educational program, presents a health risk to the child or others, or that medical consultation is warranted unless the condition resolves.

Parents should complete the online Annual Information Update each year to verify that emergency daytime phone numbers are current so that parents can be reached if their child becomes ill or is injured while at school. Parents should also inform the School Nurse or Health Assistant of health-related information they feel is important for each child’s safety and success at school.

Parade Ends at 88th and William Street (entry to South Student Parking Lot).
  • The Pep Rally will take place at the football field at approximately 2:30 after the parade ends back on campus.
  • Club66 will be open from this early dismissal time through normal operational hours at all sites.

** We hope we will have a large crowd that is able to join us for the Parade and Pep Rally. We look forward to returning to our normal Wednesday evening events during next year’s Homecoming when we anticipate having more scheduling flexibility.

WHS Football Games

We want to ensure families and students know the rules, to ensure the safety of all involved. While we welcome all students at our Westside High Football Games,

  • All elementary students attending the game will need to attend the game with a parent and sit with a parent.

  • No footballs or other balls are allowed in the stadium.

Students who do not follow these rules will be asked to leave. Thank you for your help to make sure our game atmosphere is positive for all who attend!

The health office is in need of smaller size pants/underwear for boys and girls (size 5-7). If you or anyone you know would be willing to donate anything that your child has outgrown to Loveland's health office, we would really appreciate it!

Fall Temperatures

The temperatures have been and will be going up and down for the next few weeks. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing in the morning. Sweatshirts, fleeces, and lightweight jackets are easy to keep in a backpack in case of cooler temperatures at recess time.

Battle of the Books

Mark your calendars to join us for Battle of the Books on March 25, 2023 at Westside Middle School!

This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2022-2023 Golden Sower nominees.

Visit our FAQ or rules page for more information about the event. Team registration begins October 7!
