Monday - March 7, 2016

March is National Reading Month. This week we are celebrating Reading by reading some books written by Mo Willems. We are also learning about him in the Biography database on www.pebblego,com .

Tuesday - March 8, 2016

As we continue to celebrate National Reading Month, we also learned about Tomie de Paola in the Biography database on . He knew he wanted to be artist when he was very , very young. One of his most popular books is "Strega Nona", a story about what happens when Strega Nona leaves Big Anthony alone with her magic pasta pot. We heard "Tom", a story about what happens when Tomie takes two chicken feet to school.

Grand Pa Tom had given them to him.

Wednesday - March 9, 2016

All week we have practiced logging on and off of . We needed to get to their Biography database and research authors and illustrators. There are three people who are known for childrens books. Maurice Sendak wrote "Where the Wild Things Are" about a little boy named Max and his adventure one night.

Thursday - March 10, 2016

This week, we read books by Mo Willems, Tomie de Paola, and Maurice Sendak. Each one of these authors has a Caldecott Medal or Honor book. The Caldecott Medal is awarded yearly by the American Library Association's Division for Library Service to Children for the most outstanding artwork in a children's book for that year. The winner for this year is "Finding Winnie: The True Story the World's Most Famous Bear" by Lindsay Mattick and illustrated by Sophie Blackall. The bear later inspired stories of Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh. We have it in the hardback and e book versions.

Friday - March 11, 2016

We have many other Caldecott books in hardback version and a few in the e book format.

A few Caldecott Medal books have been made into movies. Next week, we will be out for Spring Break.
