The Tiger Times

April 2019

MISSION

The MSD of Decatur Township is Student Invested, Community Connected. We prioritize Student learning, Safety and Customer Service, fostering a support system for our families.

A Note from your Principal

Dear West Newton families,

The students and staff of West Newton welcome the warmer weather and the time it offers to have fun during outdoor recess and after school! The beginning of April means many things at West Newton:

· The Decatur Art Show on April 11 at 6pm at the public library

· ILEARN testing in grades 3-6 April 22-May 3

· Music Program preparation for our 5th and 6th graders for May 16

· Visiting Artists in the art room – opportunities for families to visit

· The Decatur Technology Showcase on April 16 at DELC from 5-7pm

· Movie Night at West Newton on April 26 from 6-8pm

· The Grade 6 High Ability Showcase at DMS on April 30 from 5-6:30pm

Our West Newton Tigers are hard workers and our teachers truly enjoy teaching them each day. 3rd – 6th graders are well-prepared for ILEARN and please know how much the staff appreciates how you support and reinforce your children’s learning. I look forward to seeing you at school this month as well as around Decatur Township. Thank you for sharing your children with the staff of West Newton!

With Tiger Pride,

Mrs. Strube
