Dear Heritage Families

Hello Heritage Families,

We want to wish congratulations to the following staff members for being voted as our Support Staff Person of the Year at both Heritage Primary and Heritage Intermediate.

Heritage Primary - Shonda Arellanes

Heritage Intermediate - Michele Hankins

Here are a few things that have been said about our award winners:

Shonda Arellanes: Shonda goes wherever duty calls for the day with tremendous positivity and grace. She truly loves the students and always does what is best for them. Shonda is kind, caring, and definitely a Heritage Cub role model! She has been so flexible this year, is always willing to sub in any classroom, and never complains about any of the jobs that she is assigned. Shonda always greets coworkers and students in the hallways with a kind word and a smile. She is positive and uplifting even in tough situations. I love working with Shonda and feel she is a huge asset to our Heritage team!

Michele Hankins: Michele greets everyone with a smile daily and always has a positive attitude. She is so supportive, kind, and hardworking. Michele does what is best for all students and other staff members. She goes out of her way to ensure that every student she works with does their best. Students are always excited to have Michele in class with them, whether it be helping them with reading, writing, math or simply sitting and talking with them. She makes it a point to build strong relationships with all students and encourages students to try their best and never give up. Michele has always been driven to develop her skills as a leader in helping students succeed.

We also want to wish congratulations to our Volunteer and Substitutes of the Year.

Heritage Primary Volunteer - Jessica Steele

Jessica Steele: Jessica is a fabulous Heritage volunteer! She juggles many roles in our building but volunteerism is going above and beyond. Jessica tirelessly works to plan many exciting events for our students and families. Fund raising for our school is so necessary and Jessica helps in so many ways to ensure the success of these events. She is selfless and so caring! We are lucky to have her!

Heritage Primary Substitute - Traci Morlock

Heritage Intermediate Substitute - Michelle Ashen

Traci Morlock: Traci is always able to cover my classes when I cannot be there. It’s extremely hard to find someone who can cover my class well because people tend to assume that if they don’t know music very well, they can’t teach it. This means many times, music teachers can’t find subs that can teach or continue their content. Traci ALWAYS jumps forward to assist in the music classrooms and she finds joy teaching music in our school. The kids love having Traci for music and her joy to sub for my class makes me feel better many times!

Michelle Ashen: Michelle is kind to everyone and always has a smile on her face. She is flexible and will do whatever it takes to support our students. Michelle has such a positive attitude, especially with the students, and is willing to help wherever it is needed!

Love,

Dr. Megan Sutton & Mrs. Jessica Hanks

All Kids Bike

Heritage Primary is seeking support to bring the All Kids Bike PE Program to our Cubs! This program will teach EVERY child how to ride a bike. To get all of the strider bikes, helmets, and pedals we need to raise $6,258! The best part is that we get to keep this equipment and use it year-after-year!

To help us get started with this HUGE goal, we will host Penny Wars during the week of April 17-21. Be on the lookout for a flier coming home soon with all of the information about this event.

Want to know more about All Kids Bike and how our kids will benefit from this program? Check out the link here:

Know any local businesses that would like to support our efforts? Share this information with them. We would love the community's support for bringing this opportunity to our Cubs!

Visitor vs. Volunteer

Please take a moment to review our district volunteer and visitor approval process. Please click this link for more information. As a reminder, you need to update your background check each year, and it can be a timely process. If you have any questions about this, please reach out to our front office team.

We miss our students when they aren't here!

Did you know that students who miss two days of school per month end up missing an entire school year of learning by the time they graduate from high school? Every minute matters. Every day counts. Partner with us in your child's educational success by supporting strong attendance! Learn more.

Attendance Reminders

If you know your student will not be in attendance, please call the Primary office at 636-327-3846 and press 1 and the Intermediate office at 636-327-3839 and press 1. You can also send an email to the Primary office at attendance.heritagep@wsdr4.org and the Intermediate office at attendance.heritagei@wsdr4.org. Also please remember to leave your student's name, the reason for absence, the date, and the homeroom teacher's name in either the email or voicemail.

Students will not be released for pick up after 2:30 p.m. so please plan accordingly if you may need to pick up your student early from either office.

Caps for Camp and PJ Day!

Please take a moment to review our upcoming "Caps for Camp/ PJ Day" schedule for this school year. Every grade level is encouraged to participate, and all proceeds will go towards the fifth-grade camp experience.

Breakfast & Lunch

We have some students who have negative lunch accounts. Please ensure that you are putting money in your child's lunch account.

Heritage Primary Breakfast & Lunch Menu

Heritage Intermediate Breakfast & Lunch Menu

We encourage all families to fill out the Free & Reduced Lunch form. Not only could you qualify for a free or reduced lunch rate, but this provides our district with the information it needs to secure Title 1 funds.

We have included a PDF of the Free and Reduced Lunch Application and also have paper copies available in the office.

The application can seem confusing, so if you would like us to help you fill it out-please call our office. We would be happy to help you ensure you are getting your best lunch rate!

Birthday Treat Policy Updated

Birthdays are special to your child and we want them to enjoy this occasion. At school, each teacher can decide how to handle classroom celebrations in a way that respects the instructional time and learning needs of all the students.

You are welcome to send non-edible birthday treats into your child’s classroom to celebrate their birthday if you choose.
