ACMS Classes Zoom With Astronauts!
Thanks to our own Mrs. Horton, we were lucky enough to have the crew of the FIRST EVER ALL CIVILAN TRIP TO SPACE zoom with ACMS on Friday, April 23rd. Our students were able to participate in a Q and A session as they talked with the aerospace engineers. This experience is helping the 7th grade students in building their own rockets. We are so excited for our students to have this awesome opportunity and extremely grateful for the willingness of the crew to share their stories and time with us. Please ask your student(s) to share their thoughts with you on this incredible experience.

ACMS Earns Seventh "National Schools to Watch" Re-Designation
Summer School 2021 Dates Announced
Due to the inconsistencies associated with this school year, a law was passed providing an extension allowing students an additional six weeks of quality instruction. The Summer Camp will consist of two sessions offered June 7 – June 24 and July 5 – July 22. Summer camp will operate Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. with bus transportation, breakfast and lunch provided each day. Summer Camp is optional for all students; however, if your child has fallen behind or not performed up to expectation this year, it would be a good option for them. Your child may attend either one or both of the sessions. If your child is in danger of retention, you will receive an additional phone call from a teacher at ACMS with additional details. The letter your child brought home yesterday evening has more information, including dates and times that you can keep for your records. Please complete the form attached to the letter your child brought home. This should be completed immediately as it should be returned to school no later than Friday, May 7th. If you would like for your child to ride the bus, you may write that information on the form as well. At-risk students will have preference in the program, but we will accommodate additional students as personnel allows.
ACMS Volunteer Recognized as the 2021 Volunteer of the Year for Ashe County
We also need lights and extension cords for Making Spirits Bright 2022! During your time of Spring cleaning, we hope you find some items you might like to donate. If you have decorations or Christmas light donations for this year's light show, please email fawn.roark@ashe.k12.nc.us or call the school and ask for Ms. Roark or Mr. Farmer. Thank you!
Thank you to our local businesses who participated in our Virtual Career Week at ACMS
We want to thank all of the local businesses and organizations who participated in our first all virtual Career Fair this year via Zoom. The recordings are posted here along with information from everyone who took part in this special event. Thank you to everyone who made this possible for our students to learn about education and career opportunities from the experts in our own county.
This document link below is a great opportunity for you and your student to watch any zoom sessions they were not able to view at school and to talk about career possibilities together. These videos are accessible only through a student account.

Helping ACMS Students Finish Strong With Tutoring Opportunities
Tutoring is now available after school with our very own ACMS teachers. Parents or students, please let a teacher or counselor know if any students would like to stay after on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday. Tutoring is free and is a great way to get extra help. We welcome you to take advantage of this service!
ANNOUNCEMENT: Tutor.com is Now Available for All ACMS Students
7th graders access tutor.com through a different link than the other grade levels at school. When students have questions or need assistance with their schoolwork, they can log online 24 hours a day, in school, during remote school time, or at home.
To access, 7th Grade students go to:
Username: powerschool ID
Password: gearup
[Other grade levels should access tutor.com through Clever)
8th Graders log into Tutor.com through Clever. Your student's username when prompted is the student # and password is the student's birthdate with leading zeros. For example, April 4, 2007 would be typed in as 04072007.
Integrity is our Character Trait for May!

Bulldog Student Success Tips
1) Participate in your Zooms with your teachers on your remote days, and be sure to communicate well with your teacher when you are here. If you are an Ashe Online student, be sure to do this every day. If you do not have internet access, let your teacher know right away.
2) Fill out your attendance form from your first block class daily!
3) Complete an assignment (or better yet, all of your assignments) in Canvas. Start somewhere if you haven't been keeping up. If you are doing well, keep it up and be very proud of yourself!
4) If you need help, email your teacher. They will be glad you're doing your work and will be happy to help you. If you need technology help, email Mr. Armentrout at Tim.Armentrout@ashe.k12.nc.us or Mrs. Lovell at mandy.lovell@ashe.12.nc.us.
3) If you need help with anything else, check in with Mrs. Aldridge (kristy.aldridge@ashe.k12.nc.us), Mrs. Stallings (lynnette.stallings@ashe.k12.nc.us) or Ms. Roark (fawn.roark@ashe.k12.nc.us). We are happy to help you and we are here for you!!
4) Check for messages from your teachers and follow their directions for assignments that are coming up. If you make your best efforts, then you will make your best grades. If you don't, then you won't. You have to give your teachers something to grade! :)
5) Again, reach out to any of your school personnel. We are here for you and we love you!!
