We had such fun enjoying the new chicks. I will keep them into next week as well. If they start trying to jump out of the box, I have to take them to the farm. My dogs and the height I store their box makes it unsafe. We will take lots of pictures with them and have more chances to hold them and observe them.
Our caterpillars have arrived as well! We will be observing all of the changes these little guys go through and learning so much about life cycles and adaptations. I love science!
It is the time of year to start wrapping things up. If you would like to conference with me about your child's progress please email me and we will set up a time. I am happy to meet with anyone that wants to. Please know that I have absolutely no control over which class they go to for 3rd grade. I can list "separate from" certain children and I can add suggestions and my opinions that are shared with the office, but it is completely out of my hands.
We will be watching Charlotte's Web this Friday as part our of Dia de los Ninos celebration. We loved the novel. We are now reading The BFG to finish out the school year.
Thanks!
Have a wonderful weekend!
April McGhee
WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Langauge Arts-We are still studying poetry and writing our own. We also read Catch the Moon and several other baseball stories including a biography about Jackie Robinson. They made the connection between the time period of his life and MLK Jr. That was a proud teacher moment!
Science-We have completed our plant unit and even observed a REAL Venus Fly Trap. We will know be looking at animals and habitats
