A Blizzard of Kindness Week, January 28th-February 1st
Black History Month Events
Throughout the month of February, OPES we will focus on the contributions of African Americans for Black History Month. Each classroom has chosen an African American Inventor to research. As a class they will decorate the outside of their classroom door with their chosen inventor. To begin the celebration on February 1st the students will view a Power-Point/Video to learn about the background of Black History Month and be shown a sampling of various inventions that were created by African American Inventors. Towards the end of the celebration, the students will be allowed to complete a scavenger hunt around the school. In addition to the hunt we will be asking for support staff volunteers that will choose the "best dressed door" (one winner for grades K-2 and one winner for grades 3-5). Winning classes will be announced on morning announcements and will win a special book for their classroom library.
