Teacher of the Year Nominees for the 2017-2018 school year
Mrs. Sarah Allen
Sarah White Allen graduated magna cum laude from Arkansas State University in the spring of 1996 where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. Graduating top of the Special Education department, she was recognized with the Outstanding Undergraduate Award. Ms. Allen continued her education at Southern Connecticut State University, obtaining a Master of Science in 1998 with an emphasis in Learning Disabilities.
With twenty plus years of experience, Ms. Allen has worked as a special educator in North Haven, Connecticut; Saratoga, Arkansas; and Hope, Arkansas. Ms. Allen joined the TASD team in the fall of 2014. She is currently a resource room instructor at Trice Elementary. Additionally, she is currently serving her second term on the State’s Advisory Council for the Education of Individuals with Disabilities and holds a certification as both a Special Education Instructional Specialist in grades 4-12 and Special Education Early Childhood Instructional Specialist in grades PK-4. Passionate about educating our future both in our schools and in the community, Ms. Allen has led a Cub Scout Den, Girl Scout Troop, a Children’s Hand Bell Choir, and taught Sunday School for many years. As a self-proclaimed former “band nerd,” Ms. Allen feels she has found her home at Trice Elementary School where she has the opportunity to share her passion for learning with students of diverse abilities in an environment filled with the arts.

Jack Hardy Volunteer of the Year Nominations
This award, named for Jack Hardy who was a past Outstanding District Volunteer, is intended to recognize an individual who has shown outstanding commitment as a District Volunteer. Nominees will be reviewed on range and years of service, diversity of leadership roles, general contributions, and overall impact on several schools or the entire District. Any district employee can nominate a volunteer for the Jack Hardy Volunteer of the Year award.
