Happy Friday!

I know midterms have started and you might feel a bit stretched for time, but if you can take a break this weekend, walk down to DoG Street to check out An Occasion for the Arts.

Next week, you can learn more about Christie's or science writing and communications careers (or both). When you return from break, I'll be hosting the livestream of the One Day Immersion in Media for the second year in a row. This event happens in NYC and is an excellent way to learn more about a variety of media careers from successful professionals.

Anna Umbreit, M.S., NCC

I’ve advised thousands of students on careers in the arts, media/communication, and entertainment. My own creative endeavors include creative writing, film, dance, museums, and fashion design. You can schedule a time to meet with me by either calling 757-221-3231 or stopping by the Cohen Career Center's front desk.

Calling all writers! The field of science writing is not well known, but is a great way to work full time as a writer. According to CASW, “the most important qualities a prospective science writer needs are a fascination with science and a talent for communicating clearly—via text, graphics, video and audio—accurately and with an interesting flair. … Successful science writers have come from the ranks of science and journalism and just about every educational background.” Does this sound like you?

Meet Ups are open to all majors and class years. Suggested dress code is business casual.
