Message from Mrs. Kilday
I hope you all had a great weekend. With the nicer weather we will all be getting out more. Please be vigilant and continue to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Our numbers in Canton are up a bit and we need to all do our part to bring them back down.
I hope you all saw my message of support to our Asian American families. If not, you can find it below. It is certainly worth repeating.
We are saddened, and angry, to hear of the violence experienced by Asian American people in our country and want to extend our support and compassion to all of our Asian American families. We see you and we grieve with you.
It was my inclination to jump in here and talk about the importance of our equity work at the preschool and then I realized that’s not what we need right now. What we need is to be there for each other. We need to show compassion to those who may be hurting right now. We need to make space for those that need us most. Please know that I am here to listen or to engage in conversation. I will always make space for our Rodman families.
Again, to our Asian American families, know that you are in our thoughts and our hearts right now. I hope that you will always feel a genuine sense of belonging in our preschool community.
Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need support.
Have a great evening everyone. Remember to wear your tie dye socks tomorrow!

Additional Information on our Return of Community Peers
1. Will I know when peers are added to my child's classroom? Yes! Your child's classroom teacher will reach out to you with that information.
2. Will the children still have their own play spaces? Yes. Each child will continue to have their own play space. Those may be a bit smaller as we move to creating some structured communal play spaces.
3. Will the children be 3 feet apart or 6 feet apart? Both, depending on the activity. During breakfast, lunch and snack the children will be 6 feet apart because they will not be wearing a mask. At all other times they will be wearing masks and will be 3 feet apart.
4. Will the school day still be 9-1? Yes. This will remain our schedule for this year and next year. We have found this schedule works very well in our program as we can provide consistent classroom staffing without covering staff breaks and have time allotted in the afternoon for zoom sessions with families. This opportunity for family connections has been a positive that has come out of this pandemic and we hope to continue that next year as well.
5. Will services look any different? Services will continue to look the same. Providers will continue to service children within the classroom setting.
6. Will classrooms have time combined time with other classes? No. We will continue to keep classroom bubbles in tact and not have any crossover with other classes.
We would like to reiterate that this will be a slow, cautious roll out with built in opportunities to assess the success. If after reading all of this information you do not feel comfortable sending your child to school please reach out to Rich or Donna ASAP.
We hope to move forward with this process next week and hope to have our first group of peers join us the week of April 5th. We will keep you updated on our progress.
