Summer Graduation Transition Centers

DCSD's Student Advancement Department will pilot Summer Transition Centers during the month of June. The centers will provide support for students graduating in the Class of 2017 (or recent graduates) but unsure of next steps for college. We want to help these students make a smooth transition to their college campus in the fall!

The attached document lists all Summer Transition Center locations, dates, and times.

Diploma Pick-Up

Graduates can still pick up their diplomas in the Counseling Office during business hours. Congratulations!

Summer School 2017

Summer School is from June 5-29 (Mondays-Thursdays). We offer the following courses: Coordinate Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Advanced Algebra, Environmental Science, American Government, World Geography, and U.S. History. Students must report to courses by Wednesday, June 7 in order to participate in our credit-bearing program. Bus routes can be accessed here (note: they are different from the regular school year).

Please Share with Rising 9th Grade Friends & Families -- SummerBridge

Druid Hills High will be holding our 2nd SummerBridge program for Rising 9th grade students July 24-27 from 8am-12pm. SummerBridge serves as a bridge to support rising 9th graders in making a successful transition to high school. New to this year, we will be providing support to students beginning the Pre-IB program.

Please feel free to share this information with rising 9th grade families.

From The Counseling Office

The Counseling Office is receiving many requests to "change schedules." Each student was given a Course Plan confirming their course selections for 2017-2018 school year. Your signature signifies your understanding that school staffing is based on Course Preference Sheets.

We will still be on a 4x4 next school year. Meaning each student should have selected 8 courses to complete their class selection for next year; with each student taking four courses during the fall and four courses during the spring semester. We do anticipate transitioning into a hybrid schedule during the 2018-2019 school year. More information about the hybrid schedule will be communicated as we begin the 2018-19 registration process.

This form is NOT your son or daughter's course schedule for 2017-2018. Mr. Joyner, Assistant Principal for Instruction, will communicate in July when course schedules will be available, as well as the schedule change process.

Please note-- students are NOT allowed to request certain teachers, a particular lunch, or to take certain classes during a particular period.

Certificate of Attendance & ADAP Certificate

Parents, this email is to make you all aware of some changes taking place regarding students obtaining their certificate of attendance and or ADAP certificate. Students are required to present a copy of their attendance when applying for their driver's permit and when they apply for their driver's license, they need their ADAP and certificate of attendance. Due to use of paper for this matter, this is to inform you starting July 1, 2017 we will be charging $1.00 for each document in which we provide to students.
