The Keys to Learning- A New Publication with a focus on Teaching and Learning

The Keys to Learning is a new publication that will be sent out weekly direct from the desk of Ms. Penny Palmer Young, Principal. The intention of this publication is to replace the monthly Astroflash Newsletter. I will highlight teaching and learning as well as keep you informed of upcoming school events, recognitions, and celebrations.

Snow Days!

After playing in the snow and enjoying some unexpected time off...The question on everyone's mind is, "When do we make up all these days?" Well...the answer to that question at this moment is, "I don't know!" I know our leaders at our Instructional Support Center (ISC) are working on amending our calendar as we speak. As soon as we get any updates, I will communicate them to you via School Messenger, Facebook, and Remind101. For now, our focus is on getting back into a routine of Teaching and Learning!

Have you confirmed your parent/teacher conference date and time?

Invitations were sent home in Monday Folders on Monday, February 10. Please confirm your conference date and time and send that form back to your child's teacher. Early Release days are Wednesday, February 26 and Thursday, February 27. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 PM, so please be sure to make child care plans for this early dismissal time.

Teaching and Learning Focus- Science Special

My Teaching and Learning focus for this week is our Science Special. Mrs. Stanfield, our science specialist, provides hands on learning experiences for students in grades K-5. Students attend Science every 6 days. The lessons in science special are aligned with the current AKS being taught by the teacher in the classroom. Mrs. Stanfield collaborates with classroom teachers with regards to the AKS as well as provides resources and instructional support.

Below are pictures of 4th grade students learning about how the strength of the push on an object changes the motion.
