What are we doing this week?

Monday: Open Notes Test

Our students will get to use their journals during our first test of the school year.

Tuesday: Introducing new vocabulary words

We will introduce words dealing with the physical properties of elements. Our new words are: physical properties, metals, nonmetals, metalloids, luster, conductivity, brittle, malleability, and density. We will write the new words in our journals as well as draw an illustration of each word.

Wednesday: Physical Properties Lab

We will investigate the physical properties of the following elements: Carbon, Copper, Iron, Sulfur, Aluminium, and Lead. We will test them to see if they can conduct electricity, have luster and are magnetic.

Thursday and Friday: Density

On Thursday, we will work on a density lab. The students will find the density of two regularly shaped objects and three irregularly shaped objects. On Friday, we will work on density word problems.
