MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
233rd ISSUE: May 27, 2022
From the Desk of Mr. Mike Shukis
A Note of Thanks
As Marian comes to the end of this very unique and challenging school year, I would like to take a moment to say thank you.
Thank you to the Board of Consultors for the leadership and support you have provided throughout this school year.
Thank you to all of Marian’s administrators, faculty and support staff who pulled together to help our students and our families, and each other, for your willingness to quickly change direction at almost a moment’s notice and how we pulled together to completely rethink the way we do business – from instruction to food service to technology to maintenance and operations. You all made a commitment to our students to deliver the highest quality instruction. This year’s success could not have been achieved without you. Almost every aspect of our professional lives changed due to the pandemic, and I am grateful for the way you all responded.
I would also like to thank our students and families. The Pandemic caused stress in every aspect of our daily lives and our students and families faced it with courage and resilience. I am grateful for the strength that you all showed.
Finally, I would like to acknowledge the collective efforts of Marian’s office staff. Each of these individuals has been critical in the success of our day-to-day operations. Please join me in thanking, Mrs. Laurie DiSilvio, Mrs. Kris Johnson, Mrs. Peggy Murwin, Mrs. Ann Gillmeister, Mrs. Julie Diamond, and Mrs. Sarah Olesen. These women are the true backbone of our school.
These last few years have not been what any of us planned for. They have challenged us every single day. Together, we have responded to the best of our ability and in the best interest of our students.

Physical Education Department Reminders
Mr. Gaddy, Mr. Smith, and I would like to thank you for an excellent year in PE, Health, and First Aid. The students learned many important concepts and lifelong lessons in the classroom. When in the gym, students participated in a variety of activities to promote strength, coordination, teamwork, and to learn strategy. As this school year comes to a close, we evaluate our performance, the curriculum, and the students to find areas that we can improve upon for next year.
We would like to bring to your attention some simple things that apply to your students that can be improved upon for next year.
Locks. Students are provided with a locker for their clothes for P.E. class. Those clothes will need to be locked in a locker, next year we would like to see more students locking their lockers and keeping their belongings safe. Locks can be purchased in the school office.
PE Uniform. Coming off an 18-month span of time where students were not able to change for class was difficult. As we try and cultivate new habits and routines, one of the areas students will need to improve upon is dressing in their PE clothes for class. Please visit Dennis Uniform to order your PE clothes for next year. Dressing for class is required for every student.
HRM Straps. Each student purchased a heart rate monitor strap, they are responsible for the care of this item. We utilize Heart Rate Monitors in class periodically throughout the year, especially during our fitness unit. If a student were to lose their HRM strap they would need to purchase a replacement. Keep it safe over the summer!
We would like to thank you for your support of the Physical Education program and wish everyone a safe and restful summer.
We will see you in the fall.
Sincerely,
Robert Gaddy
