Notes from the Principal
Dear Parents,
THANK YOU! We’re pleased to report our Wildcat Den Campaign a tremendous success, and we again are grateful for the support from this community. We reached our goal, and we congratulate the following groups for their respective wins within the campaign competitions: Coach Rimmer & Co. brought the highest homeroom participation in 6th Grade, Mr. Foley in 7th, and Mrs. Salema in 8th; Mrs. Reep and her homeroom brought in the most total dollars. Those student groups will enjoy some celebration for their winning efforts, and our entire school will benefit from our partnership with the PTSO. Again, we thank you!
Beta Club helps us immediately turn our attention to a different kind of giving, and this involves our upcoming Toy Drive: make room for what might be headed your way this upcoming holiday season, and consider donating your gently used toys this Tuesday, November 12. All week long, our Beta Club is sponsoring a toy drive to redirect some of our playthings to others more in need. Partnering with Turnaround Toys, our club spearheads this effort to provide toys to the economically disadvantaged children of Charlotte, Monroe, and surrounding areas of North and South Carolina. We’re taking toys, books, games, puzzles, and stuffed animals for children ages 5-14. Beta Club will be in our Great Hall accepting gear before school all week long, and participating WMS students may wear jeans on Friday, November 22.
Basketball season is underway! UCPS kicked things off Thursday evening with games across the county, but WMS (and your defending Lady Wildcat Champions) start up at home Tuesday at 4:30pm. Boys play first during the first half of the season, and we’re aligning with some NCAA efforts and beginning big: we welcome cross-county rival Marvin Ridge to the gym Tuesday night! $4 for adults and just $3 for students, come on out and support your Wildcats!
God Bless our veterans and may we all take a moment for reflective gratitude as we enjoy a holiday/no school Monday. Happy Friday, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend!

Absence/Early Dismissal
Parents, if your child will be leaving school early, please send a note to the homeroom teacher with the dismissal time. Students who leave before or arrive after 12:15 pm will be marked absent for the day. There are no dismissals allowed after 3:30 pm. If you send a note for your student to be in the office at 3:30 pm and you arrive after the 3:30 pm deadline, if your student is not in the office waiting for you the office staff will not call your student out of class. Also, all early dismissal and late arrivals from medical appointments must have a note from the doctor in order to be excused.
When students are absent it is not necessary to call the school. Be sure to send a note to the homeroom teacher stating why the student was not in school. UCPS will notify you through Connect-Ed if your student was
absent.
