The Storm Forecast
November 2, 2020
Dear parents and guardians,
November...the air is finally crisp, the holidays are starting, and the 2nd quarter goes flying by. This quarter is traditionally seen as the shortest quarter of the year due to the number of holidays. Please make sure to keep up with your student's classwork, as the holidays can tend to distract students and we are still on full academic mode. The number one reason that we see grades go down is missing work- that's it! Ensuring that all work is turned in on time is the #1 way to keep grades up. Also remember that our teachers offer tutoring for students- if you need additional assistance in a class, please contact the teacher for their tutoring schedule. Students should also be preparing for their semester exams in December. Please see the schedule of upcoming events at the end of this newsletter.
We are also preparing to move into phase 3 of our school reopening plan. Phase 3 will involve a full return to the school building with the classroom teachers. Families who are uncomfortable with this may continue with the live stream instruction through the end of the semester. As we prepare for the new building, please make sure that you prepare as well by ensuring that you have your school uniforms, that you are prepared for dress code compliance (check the hair color!), and that you have all you have your school supplies. Students will be expected to be in full uniform, including hair color, upon the first day of return. Don't forget that you can always access our student handbook on our website under https://www.sanjoseprep.org/handbooks-and-policies/
Many school clubs and activities are already starting up in preparation for the return to campus. If you still don't have a club or activity and want to join one, you can check out the list of activities on our website at https://www.sanjoseprep.org/clubs-and-activities/ and contact the club sponsor.
We can't wait to see you!
Mrs. Knapp
Principal

Important reminders for parents
- When students are in class, they are required to have their cameras turned in so we can verify the student's attendance and participation in the course. If your student's computer does not have a camera, please email techsupport@sanjoseschools.org to arrange for a Chromebook to check out. Also remember that we take live attendance every class period, so if the student is not in the Google Classroom during class time, they will be marked absent.
- For students who are starting show potential truancy trends, attendance intervention meetings will begin in the next two weeks. Please make sure that your student is attending all of their classes every day.
- If you have a question about something in class, the best course of action is always to reach out to the teacher first. Most issues and questions can be resolved through communication with the classroom teacher. If you need to schedule a conference, please email studentservices@sanjoseprep.org and a member of our team will reach out to you to schedule a conference.
- Please make sure that your student is completing their work! Although we are on virtual instruction, we still have graded work and deadlines for assignments.
When students are back on campus, we have strict COVID guidelines in place:
- Face masks are required in order to be on campus
- All students on campus must have a COVID waiver on file
- There are daily temperature checks daily prior to entering the building and throughout the day
- Everyone is expected to maintain socially distant
