A Note from our Principal
Greetings, WPA Families,
Someone Special Breakfast & Fall Blood Drive
Thank you to everyone who attended. We loved seeing so many families at the Someone Special Breakfast.
We met out goal and were able to fill the blood drive. We donated 20 whole pints of blood and made a meaningful difference in the lives of others in our community. Our students will be celebrating meeting this goal with a free dress day on the Friday before Thanksgiving Break!
Restaurant Night- THURSDAY!
Thank you to everyone who attended restaurant night last week. we look forward to seeing you all again next month. Thursday, November 10th, 5 pm-9 pm at Texas Roadhouse in West Bountiful
RISE & CogAT Testing-
Our Fall testing window for RISE and CogAT assessments is starting this week. RISE assessments are a statewide program to help support schools in ensuring students are performing on grade level. CogAT is an assessment for identifying Gifted students. If you have questions about these or other assessments, please reach out to Mrs. Pilkington.
Thanksgiving Break -
We will not have school Monday, November 21st - Friday, November 25th in a combination of teacher training and the thanksgiving holidays. Enjoy the extra time with your families.

30th Annual PBS Reading Marathon
Challenge your kids, preschool through sixth grade, to read 20 minutes each day during the month of November. There is no need register before beginning the Reading Marathon! Simply, download your log below and keep track of your reading minutes each day. At the end of November, return to this page and input your minutes to receive your Adventure Pass!
Detailed Instructions
Step One: Read 20+ minutes each day (track on reading log).
Children preschool to 6th grade read at least 20 minutes each day, or 600 minutes total, between November 1st and 30th.
Step Two: Submit your minutes.
Come back here November 30th to enter your child's reading minutes for the whole month. The submission form will be open from November 30th to December 15th.
Step Three: Have fun adventuring!
You will receive your Adventure Pass via email after you enter your child's reading minutes!
How the Adventure Pass Works
· The Adventure Pass includes tickets and coupons to your favorite museums, zoos, and activities around town.
· The Adventure Pass is valid different months in 2023. Most are valid the whole year..
· Child must complete the Reading Marathon and be between preschool – 6th grade.
· Adults and other family members who do not have an Adventure Pass will pay regular admission prices.
· The Adventure Pass can only be used one time at each location.

It's PLAY time again!
Announcement about this years PLAY!
The title for this year's play will be revealed on Thursday, November 17th.
There will be a meeting for the parents with students who wish to participate on Friday, November 18th.
To accommodate everyone and their busy schedules, there will be one before school, and one after school. The times for these meetings will be announced soon.
Auditions will be held on December 1st and December 2nd for grades 4 through 6. You can sign up for audition times at the parents meeting.

Developing Young Minds 1 Brick at a Time!!
This club is designed to motivate, engage, and challenge your students to develop their skills in problem solving, creativity, peer interaction, relationships, and imagination using Legos to build and create Amazing things!!

SPORTS STACKING TEAM
SPORT STACKING TEAM Tuesdays
Developing Young Minds Through Sport Stacking
This club is for our actual SPORT STACKING TEAM here at WPA. It is for students who already know how to Sport Stack, who love to Sport Stack, are willing to commit to practice every day, as well as one or two tournaments this year, and who really want to be on our SPORT STACKING TEAM.
We will work as a team to develop, improve, and foster our team’s cooperation, ambidexterity, hand-eye coordination, self-improvement, and competition skills by stacking 9 or 12 specially designed cups in pre-determined sequences as fast as possible. It is an individual and team sport that engages students at any age and at different skill levels.

BOARD GAME/POKEMON CLUB
Board Game/Pokémon Club on Wednesdays
This club has several benefits to offer students:
1. Practicing social interactions: learning the value of sportsman ship, treating others with respect, and waiting your turn.
2. Critical thinking/problem solving
3. Higher order thinking – working through multiple ways to solve a problem
4. Awesome fun playing and learning old games they know and love and learning some new and exciting games they can share with their family and friends.
5. Whether you like to battle, trade, or just discuss all things Pokémon, this club is for you! Bring your cards and decks and join us for an hour of poke-tastic fun!
